You can't blame Everton for wanting more. Whether he is worth the fee is debatable.

It's become worth more than just a few though.

Everton fans are rightfully outraged at how badly the club has been run, and the awful financial management by kenwright and co, and especially about how he continually says players aren't for sale and then sells them late in a window without replacing them. Arteta was the worst, because they actually sold him for less than the original offer they rejected but it keeps happening.

If kenwright sells him now then the fans will kick off. Stones has become the figurehead of a battle between board and fans, so I don't think he is going anywhere. £38m would have bought him a month ago, but now it's too late.

Kenwright and Martinez have both been extraordinarily vocal and clear about him not being for sale at any price. To go back on that now would be embarrassing.

Stones will get his move despite both Kenwright and Martinez being vocal about him staying. He isn't fully committed to Everton and it has got to the point where there have been reports that he has got attacked by his own supporters.

Reports in the sun. If he had been attacked by his own supporters it would be front page news on every paper and sky sports would be camped outside right now. Clearly a load of bollocks.

Apparently Everton are going to report Chelsea to the FA over this as well, saying Chelsea told him to hand in a transfer request.

I don't think he's going anywhere, and by October he'll he back to playing his normal game for Everton trying to get a starting place in the Euros.

Overpriced and average just like most English players. I understand paying £50m for Sterling because at lest he played at high level and made some amazing performances with Liverpool and the English national team, but what has Stones achieved to be a £40m player ? well here is the answer nothing !!!

Paying £40m for stones is an absolute madness where his max price is £25m, I guess we live in a world where being English or playing in the premier league adds £20m over your initial price tag. If I were a Chelsea fan I'd be looking somewhere else and invest that money to bring a world class defender like Hummels or Varane who would improve their defense greatly, besides Everton fans cannot force him to stay and the lad wants to play in the champions league win titles, if he stays at Everton he would be battling for relegation place against the likes of Newcastle and West Brom etc....

Fair play to Everton. If Chelsea pay anything like £40m for Stones, then I think Liverpool, Valencia and Wolfsburg will try and sue us for daylight robbery!

Very impressed with Stones recently. We should try and stop Chelsea from signing this kid.

Already got a world class CB who hasn't got in our team yet, plus a very promising youngster set to return. No point in spending £40mil on another imo.
