I wonder what he'd be like with fuck all cover in front of him and long in the tooth, exhausted full backs at the side of him.
What are Stones strengths & weaknesses and how could he fit into our possession, passing style?
You have to wonder, with the rumours of Mangala being offered to Valencia in the summer and questions over Vinny's long term fitness, whether we will be in guns blazing for him in the summer. I know Denayer is highly rated, but I haven't seen enough of him to ascertain if he is up to the standard City need. From what I have seen of Stones he really looks the part, and will probably cost a fortune.
Have to ask yourself the question would you be happy with him going to Chelsea or Utd and them getting 10+ years out of him. My answer is no, City should be hunting down the best English talent and making the club the No1 destination for top English lads to want to come to. Sterling is at City. This lad should be next. I also think City missed a trick with Deli Ali at 5m but that is easy to say in hindsight.
Wonderful talent and has everything to become the best defender in the world, I genuinely believe that.
His composure and passing of the ball is a delight, and he has a seriously underrated change of pace.
I was relieved Chelsea didn't get him. Sadly, we should be cutting our losses on Mangala, and go all guns for Vinny's long-term successor.
Lol. A better Pique? Come on mate.Reads the game well.
Comfortable on the ball.
Not the fastest but never gets too exposed.
Good in the air.
Think of a better Pique with less hype.

Pique's overrated. A total shithawk of a centre half who has been branded world class because he has been porking a pop star and looks good on the ball for Barca.
When the going gets tough Pique bottles it.
I wouldn't swap Mangala for Pique but I'd swap Mangala for Stones in a heart beat.
Whether he is overrated or not, isn't the issue: But considering John Stones a better version of Gerrard Pique is laughable.Pique's overrated. A total shithawk of a centre half who has been branded world class because he has been porking a pop star and looks good on the ball for Barca.

I think you're right, he does seem to have outstanding potential but I'm not convinced about Barkley though.I think at this moment in time he yes.
Barcelona reportedly want him and I think he would get into every top side in England as a regular.
Stones isn't perfect but he is on his way to becoming the best English ball-playing central defender since Ferdinand.
Denayer has clear quality but for me he still has a little bit to go before I think he could be a regular at City, albeit I think eventually he will.
I would love Stones though and personally would love Barkley as well leaving us with a solid English core of Hart, Stones, Barkley and Sterling.
I do think we miss that representation from our own country as all the top Champions League winning teams that have have been English have all had a strong English/ British core.
It's a difficult one because if Kompany struggles with injury for the rest of the season I think we may have to start looking for a defender that can be viewed a a reliable option to him.
Otamendi given time to adapt and learn the language so he can communicate perfectly looks very good for us in the future. Demichelis looks like age has caught up on him at the highest level (top4/ Champions League), Mangala still has questions he needs to answer for me and Denayer despite being the future for City and looks certain to replace Demichelis, he isn't ready to be relied upon as a first choice yet.
I think you're right, he does seem to have outstanding potential but I'm not convinced about Barkley though.
Yes, good prospect, just like denayer.Tosin is developing in a similar manner to Stones imo,a calm, ball playing centre back who reads the game superbly. It may well be the case, along with Denayer,we have no requirement for this kid.
Im confident we will be getting that manager, hence our current one displaying such a short term mentality by having little thought for our future.Playing any kid is a risk that Pellegrini seemingly would rather not take.Yes, good prospect, just like denayer.
The problem is of course we might need to get a manager who would give them a chance, in exchange for the one who refused to give maffeo a minute of football despite our first choice right back being injured for half the season.
