John Stones

I still fully expect us to have a brilliant season. I'm just frustrated that we've allowed the same problems to fester. I still can't believe that we've got the same piss poor options in midfield, LB and CB.
See my response above #7858. I would have expected Pep to have wanted to see first hand what he was inheriting before agreeing to reinforcements. I expect to have a slow start to the season, picking up later on. Just hope this slow start is recoverable over 38 games in terms of where we all want to end up next May

Not going to argue with your points, but I'm sure Pep would have wanted to see for himself what he was inheriting before working with Txiki to identify replacements. For all we know, there maybe rabbits about to be pulled from hats that we are unsighted of. Several has suggested there are more signings this window (over and above Stones)
We have been linked with 3 CBs all summer. It has been obvious we want one - it's very disappointing we haven't yet secured one. We certainly didn't need last night to confirmed we needed one! We have waited a while to get arguably the worlds best manager, yet we haven't given him enough players who will have an immediate impact. We know there is no one better at developing youth, and getting that extra 10%, but is that enough, and do we have the players to perform in a 'pep system'

Agree I am looking forward to watching the gradual improvement to our team

It's looking as if missing out on Laporte was a massive massive blow. Our reaction to him staying at Bilbao has been very poor, we've been far to slow in the market to actually reinforce our weakest areas. We're now five days before the season starts and our squad is in a very poor shape.
I think the squad is in good shape, but you expect an oiled machine when we are just at the end of pre-season. Sane and Gundogan, were not available, and we are without a central defence. Your comments are unreasonable. Had we had 2 experienced central defenders, the game would have been very different. I thought we were OK going forward, and there were positives, but you choose to see only the negatives.

Plus we have a squad trying hard to learn a completely new system from a new coach. It is bound to take time ffs it took the Bayern squad until Christmas to implement the first principles and a season to fully get to grips in a consistent manner. We are foolish if we believe we can do it in preseason.

Firstly,i couldnt give a monkeys what that lot do.

Secondly, you,me or anyone else on this forum hasn't got the first clue about the negotiation process for players or the stage we're at - we have just secured some of the best talent on the planet and, with 3 weeks of the window left......we are still attempting to bring players in.

Thats a situation that certainly doesnt warrant anyone calling a City employee a 'knobhead'.

John Stones will get done and our injury situation will clear up - get a grip.

I do not have any time at all for United that is why I do not like us doing or rather not doing things the same way as that shower.

We will see how 'the best talent on the planet' perform in East Manchester before I make any decision. I have seen little of any of them but I have been able to assess many City buys over a long period. My days of false hope and new dawns are long gone.

The window IS still open but there have been plenty of times for negotiations for players to play this season - without them missing the start and the preseason training.

Posters call club players, staff and fans all sort of names on here. Knobhead is very low key in comparison ,whether deserved or not.

Our injury problems never really cleared up last year hence our poor season.

As for Stones, neither ' you,me or anyone else on this forum hasn't got the first clue about the negotiation process for players or the stage we're at' or whether he will come or not. He is a good footballer but I have doubts whether he is a good centre back for us. Everton chose not to play him at times and he did not get a game in France. I fail to see what makes him worth over £40M when he goes walkabouts. We might as well stick with what we have got if we are going to give away goals for lack of concentration, bad positional play etc.

'get a grip'??? Yes mum, can I play on my computer once I have washed the dishes? And will it be OK if I state my own humble opinions?

It's been a good window so far but for the last 5 years the club have failed in its bid to sign players who would have made an immediate impact

Hazard
Sanchez
Thiago
Pogba
Aubameyang

Sort of respect the stance on agent fees etc but it's clear in some positions a high class proven player is needed for the immediate future

Think we need to see what these next few weeks brings

KDB?

Doesn't fit the narrative.

Fernandinho also made an immediate, and probably title-winning, impact by going stright inot the the team and covering so much ground and doing so much defensive work that Yaya was free to go forwards and score 20 league goals.

So really, we've got

Aguero 2011
Fernandinho 2013
KDB 2015

All who made immediate impacts for the club.

And this season we've signed Gundogan, possibly the best midfielder in the bundesliga last season, who apparently won't make an immediate impact because he's missing the first 2 games.

Then there's Sané who will probably go straight into the team and massively upgrade RW, and possibly even Stones as well.

This might sound stupid, but let's hope Arsenal don't make a move for Stones. If they decide they want to go into the market for a central defender, there aren't many options.

Absolutely spot on. Fernandinho was a revelation and alongside Gundogan and another he will more than likely be up for player of the season again.

Stones coming in and an alternative to Willy will cap an exceptional window

I've made the point for years how our options at LB and CM aren't close to the elite clubs. We've once again failed to address it.
You don't think Gundogan and Dinho are good options?

And you don't want Garcia to get a chance?

We all want youngsters coming through, but then you moan when they get a chance.

Stones will be done.

And again, you don't want Angelino given a chance?
