John Stones

Hi mate, He's already told them he wants to leave, I not sure a official transfer request would do any more to help push the deal. It was reported that he put in a transfer request last summer, when Chelsea made 3 bids for him and Everton rejected it..I guess the only way this gets done is if we somehow agree an add-on package similar to that of Sane. (maybe 40mil + 8 add-ons?) If Stones triggered those targets for the add-ons, it would likely mean, he's proven his worth anyway.

Hi pal I didn't know that he'd done that already. Guess it's just a matter of time and us being patient.

However we look at it Pep has identified 3 centre halfs, the Spaniard was missed out on by his own actions, the Italian seems dead in the water and this one is dragging on/stalling.

I'm certainly no flapper but we haven't done well improving the back so far.

Well he`s supposedly told them he wants to leave and play for Pep,so I`ll take that as a transfer request.
Transfer requests have to be written, I think what Stones had done is to officially make his feelings known which falls short of an official transfer request. This is what I meant before when I said Stones can do more to help facilitate this move. It looks like there will come a point where Stones will have to stop trying to be everyone's friend and stand up to officially make his his wishes and intentions known.

As it stands he's apparently just sat on the sidelines letting the situation play itself out, therefore endangering the move. Over to you Johnny Boy..........

I think he is right to sit and let the clubs sort this out.

he did give an official transfer request last summer too when chelsea were after him, but Everton stood firm

Dont think Everton think that way, and why should they?
I've already made these points before but again:

1) I think the record fee paid for an English player was £45m for Sterling. The world record fee for a defender is £50m for Luiz. £40m is a massive fee. It's hardly a case of getting him on the cheap. And a few months ago, Everton fans came on here telling us about Moshiri's Billions and how it was a new start for EFC etc. What is the point of holding out for even more money when you are wealthy? False economy leaving it to the end when you have to replace the player.

2) Kenwright has managed to ratchet the fee up to £40 million. Well done. The rest of football would think it ridiculous if City paid that let alone £50m. To say you're not going to discuss anything less than £50m is seriously disrespectful to the player and would put the relationship between club and player at risk.

I don't think Everton had any intention of finding the best deal for Stones which really they have an obligation to do when the player says they want to leave.
