John Stones

..more money floating around than there is quality.

I think this is spot on. Crazy prices for mediocre players! I'm not calling Stones mediocre in that but he is well a risk, so well price prices.

It remains to be seen if his potential can be unlocked by Pep but another concern will be how he copes with the media. Sterling's obviously struggling (at the moment), and you know the media will be waiting like lions ready to pounce on Stones' every mistake, should he sign for City.

Not that arsed about any price tag, people need to get their heads around the fact that low mid-table prem clubs can throw around 30 million pound bids now, there's just no point comparing prices to past summers IMO. All I'm bothered about is that he's good enough. Clearly he's a talented lad but I think he's way too flaky defensively. I know it's not fashionable these days but I'd love us to sign one or two genuinely solid central defenders.

He is undoubtedly a good player but not sure he is a good centre half.

But he was coached by Martinez who had several good players in defence and failed to sort out a good back four.

The Trollograph thinks it is an open secret he is coming to us very soon.

He needs to make sure he wears a thick skin if he does.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this lad devolop under Pep, he's got all the credentials to reach whatever level he desires.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and predict him to be a regular future England captain, he's the closet thing I've ever seen to the great, late, Bobby Moore

I don't see why Stones would get the Sterling treatment. A big fee would attract comment, but then there have been a lot of those this Summer.

I don't know what system we are buying him for. Are we playing 3 defenders? We are assembling a very talented squad but it's difficult to know / impossible to know how Pep will set City up.

Very excited at the prospect of signing John Stones, he will go from strength to strength under Pep.

10m for average Gayle
12m for Townsend
12m for Tomkins

Three transfer fees which indeed shows the inflation of the market.

Well said, I'm amazed by the naysayers. He's almost the very definition of the Pep centre back. Really looking forward to watching this lad show what he can do.

Keep everyone on there toes that way our players esp . Plus imagine opposition coaches trying to set up against us not knowing what to come up against

Perhaps not because Stones has wanted away for a long time now and Everton fans and media are not quite as bad as those across the park.

I thought that Sterling's treatment might be a nine day wonder and restricted to the fans of the selling club as with Delph. The way the Sterling saga has carried on has been an unpleasant surprise to me especially when it extends to playing for England. I do not rate the United layers in the England team but that does not stop be cheering if we win. When we win. I could never boo England players. I could never cheer if another British get beaten but perhaps I am out of touch with many modern fans.

Stones will be great signing for us, sure he will be overpriced but I don't mind overpaying for quality a bit. There is not many young ball playing defenders around, especially ones as comfortable with ball as Stones.
