I'm reliably informed that if Bony goes the other way the payment structure will rely on Bonys goal rate.

The value of the deal "£50m" is based on Wilfs transfer value plus cash. £10m is offset against performances.

I don't know the exact figures involved but let's say for example if City win the title we would need to pay Everton an additional £5m, but if Wilf bags 20 goals, that £5m will be cancelled out.

This is a complex deal, so I wouldn't expect it to close quickly as it stands. If Everton decide not to take Wilf, then it makes the deal easier to put together...

I would go with that, Bony's value in the deal because it's not easy to offload him due to his wage (£100k + 20k) and we free up space for a striker signing. Thought the deal above is complicated I don't see why it can't be done. It's the new world of performance based payments.

Fucking hell so we'd have to rely on Bony scoring goals to get some money back?!

Or have I read that wrong??

Sort of.

Not to get money back, but the final transfer fee would be based on city's domestic and champions league performances, in conjunction with Wilfs goal return for Everton

Yeah, but wouldn't it be so, so City for Bony to go there and bang in 20-25 goals in his first season with them. Many on here have said he's been used badly by us, although I'm not quite sure how. Perhaps they'll know how to use him.

Trouble is we are viewed as having an unlimited money even though we were done for FFP so they know they can really ask what they want and within reason we will pay it,unless we never want to buy any new players then we have to pay up

I think certain players need to be the main man at a club, and bony could be that at Everton. The lad can score goals, he's proved that. His touch and speed of thought was lacking to play for city in my opinion

For 50 MIL who is better? Available? Willing to come to city or England full stop for that matter?

Perhaps not better but similarly a potential. younger, taller, have comparable technical skills and accurate passes/diagonal passes, shoots from outside the box and scores headers from corners, and at 1/5th the price. Nicklas Süle. Scored against Bayern too. Just one example of comparable potential but I guess he might not fit Pep's 'team' which I have a hard time figuring out what exactly.

That's what I'm hoping, that £50m is inclusive of a generous list of addons. but if £50m is upfront. for me it's not at this moment fair value for a player who at times made lapses in judgment that ultimately cost his team the game. He is a great outfield player and technically strong too. But £50m is asking for a flawless performer and we are expecting that in our next CB upgrade. £30-35m with performance based addons around £15mil would be fair, though I doubt everton would bite.

Depends what the performance add on require. Not sure they'd go for £15m of them, but £40+bonuses should do if some was related to doable stuff - starts, caps, cup and league wins, with the bigger amounts related to CL wins

Basically, we now need to trust Pep or we've just wasted 3 years waiting for him

£50m is a lot for a player that's just above average. Pep should work with the CB's we have right now before making a decision on purchasing stones.

So how long will it take Pep to transform Mangala? Given time he might help him fulfill his potential but Mangala will never be a ball playing CB. This is not just about ability but the type of player to fit into a system .

I think this whole ball playing CB thing is over rated. None of Real or Atletico CB's are ball playing CB's. While Pep was at Bayern ,he only had one ball playing CB (Boateng), Ramos / Pepe aren't ball playing CB's but I bet we would all jump at the chance to sign either one of them. You can't just throw 50m on player just because he is "comfortable on the ball", besides you don't need ALL your CB's to be ball playing CB's, Mascherano isn't, Pique is. Pep can make it work with Mangala being the brute ramos/pepe type and Vinny the "ball playing" Pique type.

What we want and what the team needs may be different

The team is a jigsaw and Stones may be a piece we need

At Bayern, Pep had Boateng, Martinez, Benatia, Badstuber and Alaba who would all be considered ball playing cbs.

Mascherano is definitely a ball playing CB - he's pretty much the prototypical bal Plato g centreback because he was a very good midfielder before moving back, and the whole "ball playing CB" thing is about having your CBs being comfortable enough on the ball to push up into midfield, bring the ball out and play like midfielders.

And the only reason Godin, Pepe and Ramos aren't considered ball playing is because in Spain that level of ability on the ball for a centreback, being comfortable and passing it around is just standard.

I think it depends on what you mean by ball playing, Pepe is really comfortable on the ball Ramos fairly comfortable and Mascherano very comfortable, they might not be play makers but compared with Mangala they are Glen Hoddle and Pirlo rolled into one. Quite a bit better than Ota as well I would say.

Vinny is finished
Otemendi plays like a under 10 diving in at every opitunity
Mangala has mushy peas for a brain

Stones is needed desperately

£50m with a percentage of that performance related is a good deal everton have new investment and ambitions we are in the champions league and also have high ambitions taking into account the new TV money and Chinese clubs paying over the odds for players £50m for a young England international is about right
