John Stones

Nah. I think the most important signing for Pep has gotten the least amount of love of all our Signing.

Partly coz he didn't cost what a player of his caliber would have cost
Partly coz he is injured
And partly coz we signed him so early in the window that fans didn't get enough suffering from wanting him time.

By a large margin Ilkay Gundogan is by far our most important signing. His signing pretty much made the rest have value.

All together we've had a great summer. Remove any single one of our signings from the list and we'd still have had a good Summer. But remove Gundogan and we are talking about an underwhelming summer with no addition to our soft Center. Ilkay is the signing that makes all the others worth it.

No wonder we went in for him first.

The Midfield General. The oil that lubricates the machine Pep' mind has created.

Don't sleep on Gundogan.

Bet your a happy camper tonight...!! ;)

I agree about Gundogan though.....

Looking forward to seeing him play. Think we've overpaid by a fair amount although that seems to be the norm for most big spenders these days. Transfer fees have actually gone mental.

He's clearly technically ahead of Otamendi and Mangala so he should be a good fit. Just hope we don't do a Nastasic or Savic on him and fuck him off if he makes a mistake or two.

With that in mind, if we wanted a technically gifted defender who makes the odd mistake, we could have kept Nastasic for free. Left footed too.

An important signing for Guardiola and his plans.Stones will be in the best environment to refine his skills and develop into whatever he wants to be, which in my opinion is a very versatile, '' ball playing '', dominant defender. Always rated him and you can easily see why managers like Guardiola and Mourinho as well as players such as Pique, Ferdinand i.e players of a similar ilk also rate him. Top signing for what is going to be a very exciting season, seems to be a down to earth lad as well.

John Stones will be able to recycle the ball quickly and directly from his feet, without being pressured inside his own 18-yard box (a symptomatic problem that happened last year with Everton). This is primarily the reason he's been bought and is why he absolutely suits the style of our managers preferred playing style. A perfect and much needed signing in my view,

Just watching SSN , showing Pogba's goals and then showing John Stones defensive mistakes , well at least it keeps 659m of their viewers in a state of delusion
Yep, the very own world's most expensive player that managed a 'massive' 8 goals in 35 appearances in Serie A last season.

Compared to our alleged under achiever Raheem Sterling who scored a meager 7 goals in 35 appearances in the shoddy Premier League last season.

I've been happy all summer mate. Ever since Pep's hiring, I've always sensedthis was the summer I was gonna see incomings that mirrored my wishes..

My expectations have been met and exceeded.

5 signings under 23 check.
2 wingers I specifically pined for (Sane & Jesus) check.
1 of the 2 CBs I pined (Larpote & Stones) for check
Midfield General (Gundogan) check
No wasting money on an unnecessary backup striker check
Only incomings I didn't get were Bruno Peres at RB and the Marque signing of Pogba.

Only one bad mark this summer. The retaining of Kolarov. :(

Overall I give this summer an A+

You bet I'm a happy camper. I'm gonna be a clapper this season. Let me apologize ahead of time for how annoying I'll get in the clapper club :)

nThink he is technically ahead of every CB at the club. Everyone!

Anyone looking up reaction from Everton fans? I bet it's more classy than the dippers were with Sterling.
I know a couple and they are genuinely not bothered. In fact they think they're stronger short term with Ashley Williams plus they have 30 mil in the bank. Can't argue really.

Depends how you look at it. Stronger short term like you said maybe. So probably 2 or 3 years tops that Williams will play. Then they have to spend again to find a replacement not only for him, but for Jagielka too. Add the fact that transfer fees go up every year.

Reminds me when we signed Kompany, years back.SSN would always show footage of a new signing scoring a goal or showing skill/talent to underline why they were in demand.
Not so Vincent Kompany..
They only showed a single peice of footage..Kompany going up for a corner(attacking) connecting with the ball, but sending his header so wide of the net it actually went out for a goal kick...cue mono-tone,under- whelmed voice over from sky re Manchester City,s new .

Listen, excited for Stones n'all that.

But can this lad defend? Am hearing mixed opinions here. I mean, Pep will help surely but for such a massive signing he shouldn't have holes in his game..
He doesn't. No defender is unbeatable. If there was any like that his team wouldn't concede. Stones makes mistakes about at the same rate as Kompany. No more no less. He is a good tackler, has a fighter's spirit, and a fantastic brain.

He is going to be fantastic.

Just been watching Peaky Blinders and wanted to ask if anyone else think Stones has an uncanny resemblance to Tommy?
