Hiddink was interviewed by David Davies on Radio 5's Sportsweek. They didn''t say it as Live so I think it was recorded in the recent past.

Hiddink is still in contact with Chelsea officials including Wilkins, but doesn't talk to them on a daily basis. He has spoken to Terry since he left.

He said that he thinks Terry will stay, but he was cagey. Suggested that Terry wants to fight for trophies, and is concerned that they may not do so. With his Chelsea connections I was expecting Hiddink to be very dismissive of City's bid, but it was just the opposite. He was very positive about City in general and the competition they would give the top 4.

I love that man more and more every day. He is absolutely spot on. Calm, collected but still has the tactical awareness of Ferguson and Mourinho. Once again, I could not agree more with the man.

It makes sense that Terry may be concerned, but will probably stay at Chelsea. It is also a good thing for football that City are getting involved with the 'top four'. Absoloutely spit on, Guus.

Well Hiddink didn't stay so I can't imagine he's in much of a position to say that he thinks Terry will.

He appeared to have a bond with the team. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a friendship with players like Frank Lampard and JT and he remained in touch.

I wish we kept him.

I think that it will be as simple as;

1/ Terry uses our interest to get new deal - not just salary - but more importantly 5 year contract
2/ Chelsea do not want to offer this - Kenyon is under instruction from RA to get the clubs finances under control and more towards self-sufficiency - breaking all the salary band is a way to cock this up - you would have cashley and lampard straight outside the door just for starters

3/ Chelsea decide to cave in and offer £150k and a 5 year deal
4/ But to their shock - that is not enough - Terry wants minimum, £175k - and this they are having problems giving him - just would totally fuck up their structure

5 So all the delay is whilst Kenyon and his agent negotiated and meanwhile the 'shadow' of Man City looms

Chances are they will cave in and they will come out with undying statements of love - but if Chelsea do not cave in - well then he will be a CITY player - might leave a bad taste as we are clearly not his preferred club and he would only be coming for the money - but a compromise that is probably good for club at this stage of the project - we need a leader

Forget all the power talkers, there's nowt like a grovelling plastic yank fan to sway your major career desicions. :-)

i think if terry doesnt say anything regarding his future in america and gets back in the uk without saying anything then we still havea good chance of getting him.

also lescott will be back in a few days aswell so we might see 2 new centrebacks very soon.

Remind anyone of the 'Carlos Please Stay' signs being brandished at OT? Lets hope for the same outcome!

It wouldn't surprise me if the length of the contract were quite an important issue. City know they'll have to offer him five years to get him to come here. Will Chelsea, however, be prepared now to commit to having him on their books until he's five months from his 34th birthday? If not, then the financial disparity between the two packages on offer to him will be that much greater. Wouldn't be altogether surprising (to me, at any rate) if Chelsea's stance on this turned out to be a decisive issue.

Its a shame but i think Terry will stay. Ancelotti has said "TRUST ME Terry is staying" That is a bold statement to make and he surely wouldn't risk saying this if it wasn't true especially in his early reign as Chelsea boss. How stupid would he look if he decided to leave.
