It may come as a surprise to you this - but most top clubs generally negotiate with two players of the same ilk because top transfers are very difficult to pull off, and so it pays to always have more than one iron in the fire. Witness for example, Chelsea's interest in Schneider and Ribery...

We flew to Germany for our annual pre season training camp mate. You don't honestly believe everything wriietn in the papers do you?

Well unless we always take the entire squad with us when we bid for a player, i think you'll find we are in Germany on a training camp...

We didnt fly over to germany to speak to lucio, its all rumours, we are over there on a training boot camp that hughes does every year, and officials would be there because we are playing a low profile friendly match against munchen 1860.

You're saying this as if it's fact that we are going after Lucio. It isn't. City have flown out to Germany for a pre-season training camp. People probably saw Hughes boarding a flight to Germany and assumed we're sending "a delegation" to tie up a deal for Lucio. As far as i'm aware, a "delegation" to conclude a transfer doesn't usually include 20+ players, kit men, coaches, physios and a tea lady.

I find the statement last night from Bruce Buck quite interesting. "We've told Ancelloti to go and buy a marquee signing". In my eyes a "marquee singing" would cost around £30-£40mill which Abramovic is very reluctant to spend on one player. Today Spursmad tells us Terry is to hand in a transfer request. So where is that £30-£40mill coming from for the marquee signing?
