well what ever happens now Terry is back at training tomorrow and he'll not be able to avoid the press
yeh i agree unlike the other dealings were involved in i think this 1 will be made clear tomorrow 1 way or another, but his silence is interesting, him being away doesn't mean he couldn't have put an official statement out via his agent declaring his future lies at chelsea, and anyone and everyone at chelsea is coming out speaking for him! i wouldn't like people speaking for me, its down to him himself to state his intentions. oh and by the way IMO if he leaves kenyon will get the boot. he has been a shambles

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Terry is the subject of numerous bids from Manchester City

Chelsea have hit back at suggestions they have left captain John Terry in the dark over transfer interest from Manchester City.

Reports have suggested that Terry is furious nobody at the club has spoken to him since City tabled a £30m bid last week.

The England skipper was reported as feeling 'betrayed and even unwanted' and it was even claimed the defender wanted showdown talks with the club's owner Roman Abramovich.

But Chelsea scoffed at suggestions there had been no dialogue with their club captain and insisted they had spoken to him recently about the situation.

They are also set to sit down and hold more talks with Terry when he returns from holiday tomorrow.

A Chelsea source told Press Association Sport: "It is total nonsense to suggest that the club has not spoken to John Terry recently.

"We've spoken to him a number of times and we'll talk again when he gets back from holiday.

"He is well aware of our position that he is not for sale and he was pleased that both the club and the manager publicly took that position as we discussed it with him."

Terry takes home £20,000 a week less than his England team-mate Frank Lampard, who is on £150,000 a week but it is almost certain the club will offer him an improved deal.

Terry has played 272 games for Chelsea and scored 17 goals in 11 senior years at the club.

He joined Chelsea aged just 14 and led the club to its first league title for 50 years in 2004-5.

Both chief executive Peter Kenyon and new boss Carlo Ancelotti have said Terry is not for sale and now the club have made it clear he has been regularly consulted over recent events.

Chairman Bruce Buck cemented their position by adding: "As a Chelsea fan I'd be devastated if John left but that's not going to happen. John Terry is synonymous with Chelsea and Chelsea is synonymous with him.

"He has been here since he was a wee tot, he is captain of the club and captain of England. He is the backbone of our team and is not leaving."

300 grand a week? He's fuckin shite.

There's far better centre backs than him for those sums.

One of the best defenders around.

Is he bollocks.
I know, he's only England captain and one of the most respected defenders in world football.

FIFA'S Article 17

Not sure if this is hidden somewhere in amongst another thread, but this was mentioned on Talkshite the afternoon and I found this article from 365 relating to when Lampard was in dispute. Particularly interesting is the bit in bold and underlined.

Maybe this is what Terry is planning to do ;

LAMPARD PREPARED TO WALK OUT ON CHELSEA
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...800729,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...800729,00.html</a>

Frank Lampard remains determined to leave Chelsea unless the club agrees to his demand for a five-year, £140,000-a-week contract and is even prepared to exploit the Webster rule and risk walking away from the final year of his current deal, according to reports.

Chelsea remain adamant that Lampard will not leave, rejecting a £7.95m bid from Inter Milan for the midfielder yesterday. "The situation is ongoing," declared chief executive Peter Kenyon. "We have always maintained that we want Frank to stay and an offer was made to that effect. That offer is still on the table.

"Frank is under contract and he still has one year to run on that. We'd like to hope we can reach an agreement but if we can't we have always worked on the basis that Frank sees out the terms of his contract."

Yet their refusal to offer the 30-year-old Lampard a five-year deal has apparently opened up an irreparable breach, with The Times reporting that he is 'so disillusioned with his employers' reluctance to bend to his will that he has decided to follow Jose Mourinho to Inter Milan before the transfer window closes at the end of next month.'

While it has been previously speculated that Lampard would demand a move, the twist in the tale is the claim that he has received legal advice about the possibility of walking out of Stamford Bridge this summer. According to The Independent, Lampard has been told by his lawyers that 'it would be impossible for the club to hold him to the final year of his contract. It would then be up to Chelsea to try to recoup compensation for him from football's world governing body, Fifa. In what has turned into a bitter dispute over his future, Lampard's lawyers have investigated whether he should invoke the so-called "Webster Clause" - Article 17 of Fifa's rules - which effectively allows certain players to unilaterally terminate their contract with their present club.'

The Guardian also reports that Lampard has investigated the option of invoking the Webster clause, although it also points out that 'Under Article 17 of Fifa's regulations for the status and transfer of players, a player who signed a contract before the age of 28 is entitled to buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed.

'Lampard is currently in that "unprotected" period though, technically, he should have served notice of any desire to leave Chelsea within 15 days of the final league game of last season. That would leave him open to "disciplinary measures" from Fifa, though he might consider that a risk worth taking. Webster was guilty of a similar breach, though it only cost him a ban for the first two weeks of the 2007-08 season, with the final compensation figure granted to Hearts on appeal at CAS for a player who earned around £250,000 a year only totalling some £150,000.'

Nonetheless, the disclosure that Lampard is considering such an extreme measure is an indication of how determined he is to leave the club. Chelsea's resolve to keep him is set to be put under greater over the next forty-eight hours with Inter expected to make an improved bid for his services.
