Excellent! Get Toure in here for 1/3 the cost, let him school Ned and let's get on with it! We have Dunney and Kompany as CB relief, with Micah in a pinch. We DO NOT have a defensive problem other than we cannot defend corners and set pieces because Given (and Hart before him) is not a "manage the box" 'keeper, but a shot saver. THAT takes coaching not a new back four!

Hopefully, Toure will come in and do a job while we bring the Academy/Reserves along and/or scour the globe for a young, left footed, center half with speed and a header on him.

Think Hughes, Cook and ADUG have to realise that we have to win things over a period of time to attract your Kaka's and your Messi's and your Terry's etc...

If you don't try you'll never know, we haven't come out this looking bad or anything like that it's just a shame we've not been able to get Terry but theres no shame in that considering he's captain of one of the best teams in the world

I think when Kaka rejected us, that was a sign that we can't attract the ''world beaters''.

As I class Tevez as ''world class'' and Adebayor as ''close to world class'', we can't quite attract the top top players.

The Chelsea fans are likely to come crowing after Terry finally commits himself to Chelsea:

It's a shame we won't be getting him but at the end of the day we have probably cost Chelsea a fair bit of money in giving him an improved contract (it will be interesting if anything comes out regarding that, my guess is it'll be kept hush hush) and potenitally causing other key players to push for parity with JT.

Personally I always thought it was a little bit of a risk spending so much on a player who may have serious injury problems. If, as seems likely, we get Lescott then I'll be happy. I'm not sure about Toure to be honest... but my knowledge of top quality defenders is limited I'll admit. Hangerlaand had a good season but it remains to be seen whether he is good enough for where we plan to be.

What isn't a surprise to me as a Chelsea fan, though, is how quickly so many fans become so arrogant. From slating off other clubs for buying the league, to thinking it's okay to buy anyone and everyone - not my views but gleaned from comments in this topic.
