Jon Macken

Whole interview well worth watching. The way he describes the noise the City fans were making at HT at Spurs, despite being 3-0 down, really should remind supporters the difference they can make in lifting a team when they are behind.
MxAtee sort of reminds ne of Jon...maybe just the stature..but a little bit in the way they play

I played in a vets league game about 5 or 6 years ago and the team that turned up to play us included him and Sean Gregan (think their team might have been Avro's)

As you'd expect they were easily the best players on the pitch by a mile... whilst putting in the minimum effort
Thats when it hits people. Proper amateurs (sunday and five a siders) v proper professionals ....the gap is immense. Especially re the effort levels.. pros read the game ..walk..play one touch so well.. hold any unfit bloke of easily...all 100% huff and puff and effort with amateurs

I have a mate who plays five a side in south manc and some of City vets play down there amongst themselves. Stephen ireland played ten minutes 'filling in' on his pitch one week as a kind gesture. Mate said he was playing a different sport. Ten minute kick about!.. put a lot of fun fiver a siders in check..curbed their ego's massively. Get fans to play 5 mins v pros ..you will end up with less "your sh*t shouts etc"

I've got a mate from Birmingham who tells a story of playing 5 a side against David Buust a few years ago. Apparently his leg still looks a mess even now but he said he was still so far and away the best player on the pitch that it actually wasn't fair!

Such a good night. Spurs laughing at us when we were singing "we're gonna win the cup" and "we're going to win 4-3". My step brother (known by Stretch to some) taking off his shirt running up and down the steps on the lower tier (he travelled down with Levvy Blues). Think the minibus they travelled in was damaged after the game.

I remember Spurs fans throwing food and bottles at us when we were leaving the stadium. The police pushed us back in the ground. Great night.
