Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle

In my opinion its a cracking signing, scores goals something the rest of their midfield doesnt do.

Doesn't score that many. I had freebies for Swansea Vs Everton last season, he scored a penalty but was awful throughout the game. Gave the ball away so many times. A lot of my Jack mates who are ST holders are thrilled he gone for over double the price they paid for him. I think Newcastle have just added another problem to their squad.

Just read on Twitter that the signing of Shelvey is a replacement for Tiote who has told the club he wishes to leave.

He's technically sound but he's either lazy as F... or stupid. Has very little positional awareness and looks for glory balls too often. Very good when facing Liverpool but then he forgets which ends he's meant to score in.
It looks like both to be honest. Seems a very odd signing for Newcastle as the last thing they need are more players who blow hot and cold and only try when they feel like it. He's never struck me as being much more than a young Charlie Adam.

He had a great game against us a couple of years back at the etihad.
Was always in 5 yards of space

I think there's a decent player in there somewhere. The fee doesn't matter, especially if he helps keep them up.

Good player and I'd have him at City for that price.

There's definitely a player in there and he's got a good pass and technical ability.

He's no world beater and never will be but almost in a similar to Delph way, he'd be an upgrade on Fernando, homegrown and would add a bite to our game.

Its a great signing. I rate Shelvey quite highly as he is a cracking player who has been underrated for most of his career. Don't know why Swansea sold him as they are at the wrong end of the table

I think he's a decent player when he's on form. When he is full of confidence he sprays the ball around and has a decent shot on him. It's so easy for players to pass sideways and backwards to retain the ball but it's forward thinking players who always get it in the neck, they're the risk takers of the game. There has been loads of games where I've seen him and he misplaced passes but he does have some bottle. 12m in this day and age is nothing, they do have some decent individual players at Newcastle. I'm interested to see how he will do, but McLaren will have to get consistency out of him. I always look at Colback as an example as he is bang average as a player but consistently performs for them, for where they are in the table you want that. I'm sure they will stay up either way

About as good a January signing as they could have made. The lad has talent and aggression,he'll be an inspirational character for the run in,and alongside sissoko, will form a very decent partnership.

Hes a good player and I rate him when hes on form, but I'm not sure if hes the sort of player you want in the trenches when you're in the shit like Newcastle are right now. At Swansea when they were flying he looked good, over the past couple of months not so much.

a decent enough player. my mate is a Swans season ticket holder and hes found shelvey very frustrating too watch. one minute he can ping a 40 yard pass onto the toe of his team mate and the next hes cocking up a 2 yard pass. Goes hiding in matches too easily as well apparently but he didnt think his heart was really in it at the swans.

i quite like him and hes still young but will a club like newcastle in their position suit him? im not too sure, but we shall see.
could be a decent buy at 12 mil.
