Jonny Evans

I've heard a lot of upset people going on about Txiki & Pep not knowing a good CB from a shit one, but as yet, few if any have offered alternatives in that price bracket. For £20m - £30m, can you think of any other suitable alternatives with his PL experience who we should have gone for?
As we are still keeping two non-HG slots free I'd have been inclined to have used one for the 4th CB and sacrifice one of (presumably) the forward targets, I can't see that we desperately need two additional forwards.

If the choice now is Evans or Gibson I'd take Evans as the lesser of two evils but I would worry about the lack of pace if we ever ended up with an Otamendi/Evans pairing.

Ah right, well they certainly weren't up to scratch and in signing Evans I believe they are just repeating the same mistakes again tbh, can you really imagine Evans in the left back spot for this team ? I very much doubt that will happen as Danilo will be the cover guy for both wb spots, the thing is, if like you say it is just for cover we are spending close to 25 -30m on this ageing cover and selling a player we payed 42m for what is it 10m ? Stick Mangala in at WBA and all of a sudden people will think he has improved tenfold, I understand he doesn't pass the ball as well as Pep would like but fuck me he would be the 4th choice centre half and would have come in and done a fine job defending in the one or two games needed to cover either due to injury or suspensions, we would then have saved 30m to put towards the next windows FFP total, then they could either go and buy a top youth prospect that they can trust to play 4th choice and league cup games and build a one for the next 3-4 seasons or start giving some of our own youth a few minutes here or there to see if they can actually cope with the realities of life as a pro in the premier league playing for City, for me I would imagine that Tosin next to VK would manage just fine for a game or two, he hardly looked out of place against Chelsea in that FA cup farce.
It seemingly comes down to the fact that Pep obviously doesn't think Tosin is ready yet & doesn't want to have to rely on him in a crisis. Again it's evident Pep doesn't rate Mangala and as with others, is prepared to take a loss, just to rid the club of them.

Pep has obviously seen something in Evans whereby he thinks he can do a better job for a season or two until we have the available funds for a stellar signing at CB. It's obvious we're interested in Evans because of these reasons, but mostly because of FFP, otherwise we'd be in balls deep for VVD. So with Pep wanting rid of Mangala & not believing Tosin is ready yet, who else for £20m - £30m would you suggest we get?

Maybe it is his attitude then. Pity as whenever I've seen him play he looks an awesome defender, like a fast, athletic John Terry. Must be something I'm not seeing that's stopping him being a £70m defender!
When I've seen him play, he's always had a major error in him, but reports of his bad attitude have followed him around, hence why this could be a reason that the only club who have been interested in him for the last 2 seasons was Crystal Palace who needed loan cover & declined the opportunity to sign him for a knock down fee this summer. So aside from Sakho, who else can you think of for £20m - £30m?

We will have done our homework and we still have Tosin who makes it 5. I cannot possibly imagine City have just pulled Evans out of the hat. I have 2 football agents as clients and both have told me of a company like OPTA who keep unbelievably detailed stats on every professional player in the world. Players can be graded & cross referenced down to the finest detail which gives clubs an indication of what a player's like before they take the time to monitor & scout them.

Trust me, we will have every available metric available on Evans and he must have been identified as our best option for the money. Last season we concentrated on the forward line, & this season it's the defence, but obviously Sanchez & Mbappe have forced us to make provisions for their availability, meaning we've probably had to lower our sights with the CB position based on the assumption that VK's fitness problems with his calves are over.

Either way, I seriously cannot see our club have done what we have this summer without it being a part of a bigger plan.

There really isn’t many. It’s why I hope this deal gets done. And why I hope the personal abuse of Jonny stops shortly.

Well been out for a pint or 2 and spoke with 2 Norwich fans one Irish rag 1 Coventry and one Bolton they all think we have lost the plot

It's hardly started yet. He seems a humble intelligent guy to me and if I were him I'd be very wary of coming. There will be an agenda from day one and this could turn pretty sour tbh. What, with him being an ex rag and all.....
