Jonny Evans

Evans regularly plays against Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Costa, Kane and Lukaku. I'd say he gives us a much better chance than a 20-year-old with no experience.
Aye, and he's regularly getting tanked by Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Costa, Kane and Lukaku.

Was this not available to them when they purchased Mangala, Bony, I don't need to list the other flops but you get my point, you can't use that as a reason to big up Evans when it plainly has failed to spot all the other shite signings.

20-30m

Tyrone Mings 24yo
Craig Dawson 27yo
Ben Mee 27yo, solving all the home grown issues in a stroke no less.

If we were in need of this centre half all summer why did we allow Everton a free run at Keane an ex red but 5 years younger and with improvement still to come, fee 25m rising to 30m.

Also to base the Evans signing on the slight possibility that we sign Sanchez and Mbappe inside the next month is a bit of a joke in itself, if the case was FFP related it would be better no to waste the damned money on a player in the first place and maybe just maybe Pep can use his vaunted ability to make Tosin the centre half he desires, I mean he is a top coach, famed for plucking that German kid from the lower leagues and making him an international, get it done at City please.
How do you know how much Mings, Dawson & Mee are valued at?

Plans change my friend. We apparently had Alves nailed on and we all know what happened there. When the Alves deal went tits up, it cost us £27m to make alternative plans, so I'll hazard a theory...... We have our No 1 targets, but just in case it doesn't work out, we have plan A, B & C in place. Now that can't possibly be beyond the realms of being believable can it?

Your 'Action Plan' of relying on SuperCoachMan Pep to turn Tosin & Mangala into world class superstars might be a valid one for you, however in the real world, not even God almighty can polish a turd. This isn't to say either player cannot sufficiently improve, but can they improve enough for our purposes this season? The fact Pep wants rid of Mangala & is more willing to rely on Evans, proves Pep has decided he can't.

I suppose it comes down to faith. I had faith in Mancini & none in Pellegrini, but my faith has been restored with Pep. Why? Well things may not have gone to plan so far, but there are extenuating circumstances as to why, namely the squad Pep inherited was more broken & less fit for purpose than many realised. Pep has been here 12 months and unlike his predecessor, I can see sense in what he's doing and more importantly, I can see a plan. I think his previous achievements and the fact he's not trying to live of them should afford him the length of his contract at least to get us back on track.

In an ideal world, I'd love to have Sanchez, Danny Rose or Ryan Bertrand & VVD in our squad right now, but it's looking like we'll be lucky to get one of them. Not to worry though, because if we don't, we'll have January & next summer to rectify the situation. FFP & Pep's lack of faith in half our senior players is a major at play here and the only laughable thing is if we bury our heads in the sand in the belief this is not the case.

Pep is Pep. He's not God almighty with a magic wand.

Have we signed him yet?

I want his name and squad number on my home shirt by kick off tomorrow. The suspense is killing me now......

To quote the salacious Andy Gray, take a bow son, take a bow!

The RagDipperArseHaringeyMeedya will all say it's a good signing 'cos they want us to go belly up! I'm surprised they haven't suggested we resign Bernardo or The Gorgeous Greek, and 'tis a pity St. Joseph of Barton is banned or he would add some steel to the midfield!

So you reckon EVERYONE in the media/tv/radio want us to fail??

This seems quite commonplace for the top clubs. They worry that supporters will howl if they sign a relative unknown from an unfashionable club. Then pay through the nose when they've been proven elsewhere.

Very true.

In the case of Stones, it should have been a no-brainer when he was at Barnsley. Sign him up, loan him back, save £40 mill down the line.

I'd also have gone for Robertson as the second left back and Maguire wasn't an unknown when Leicester picked him up.

I've got nothing against Evans, just don't think he's a good buy at the price we might end up paying.

We clearly needed another CB and I find it hard to understand why we left it to the Name Your Price stage of the window to deal with it.

I know it's not my money (although I've been priced out of Sky, who are part fuelling the craziness) but transfer fees are just getting beyond insanity, especially since Neymar.

Even a month ago any talk of Evans being a £25 mill player would have been deservedly met with cries of 'Nurse!'

But I guess I'm just getting old. I'm from the '£200k for Martin Peters!!!' Generation.

Just imagine what King Colin would fetch nowadays.
