He did mate, no argument there. But look at the teams we played and groups we were in compared to the ones Fernandinho has been up against.
I will not belittle Lescott contribution to us as he played a key part. Bobby had that team set up perfectly, power pace and the sublime genius of Yaya and Silva. The balance was perfect and that was down to the sum rather than the individual parts.
Good job we managed to sign Bernardo and not the rags. They now have the power and pace. Thankfully they have no sublime genius.

Surely having Mendy and Walker and or Danilo and Sane and Sterling with the ability of the rest of the team to move the ball around so fast his defensive ability would be the rock the creative freedom is built upon. I guess we just have different priorities for what a central defender should be and as you clearly state his great attributes I dont see how his great ability on the ball and ability to win headers wouldnt benefit our counter attacking or more general attacking style.

Dont forget my original argument asked why from Hughes to Pep have we had 13 partners for Kompany yet Hummels seems never really to have been in contention even though he is a world cup winner and Bundesliga winner and a Champions League runner up.
