Jorginho: «With Ancelotti I could stay»
The Napoli midfielder, from the withdrawal of the National team, opens to the reconfirmation: "I owe so much to Sarri but the arrival of such an important winner changes everything ..."

FLORENCE - Jorginho dazzled on the ... via del Napoli , thanks to the arrival of Ancelotti . The blue midfielder from Coverciano sends a clear message, despite the fact that he has been talking about his next transfer to Manchester City:"It was a surprise for everyone, it was a great blow for Napoli. Ancelotti is a coach who won wherever he went. It can give something more. I say thanks to Sarri for what he did, for me in particular. I came from a difficult year, he gave me so much, he helped me to improve. But the arrival of Ancelotti can improve us all. I'm not thinking about the market ... though. Certainly the arrival of Ancelotti, of one so big as to make me rethink everything, and that's what I'm doing. Fear of the flight of so many companions? It's a big word but the Napoli group is extraordinary, ready to give everything, to make sacrifices for the shirt; the important thing is that those who arrive are willing to do the same " . Then the admission: "No, Ancelotti has not called me yet ...

And let the flapping commence.

Interesting business from City, haven't really spent over 60m for a player and the highest earning players that have arrived under Pep are Gundo/B. Silva at 120k the rest are under that. Jorginho I think will be making 70-75k.
We needed a big turnover of players so even with our budget haven't been able to go over those markers for each player. Rags were in the same boat and splurged on individuals with big names and they're not much better squad wise than they were before spending.

Fully agree with the Bernardo bit.

I've got no clue why I've seen so many posts saying Bernardo will be played centrally because he's hardly played there in the absence of other players and also what has he done to show the qualities of being an 8 anyway?

Here’s the clue....It’s the same scenario as playing a kid at fullback before centrally, it’s to help to find there feet physically and reduces potential impact from mistakes.... he’ll play centrally in the long term due to his ability to hold on to the ball and to play in tight spaces!

I can't see it personally. I've spoken before about how strange it is the Pep completely avoided playing Bernardo centrally when D.Silva was away with family if he's about to move him inside, and if Gundogan has a good World cup at 27 we're likely to just say "Brilliant! he's finding his Dortmund form, can't wait to see him do this for us next season".

Next summer would make a lot more sense. If he's stayed fit another full season but getting similar reduced game time he's likely to get itchy feet when he could start in any of the other sides in the top 6. At that point a sale might suit everyone inlvolved.

We’ll see re:gundogan, it really isn’t something that shifts me either way, as he’s one of those players I’ve yet to feel a connection to..

As for Bernardo, just explained above, again we shall see!!

If the latest reports are true (that we're close to signing Jorginho & Mahrez). . .

Humble pie time for me. I jumped the gun with my cynicism/stupidity.

I was wrong. Well done, Txiki. Apologies.
