see thats the thing, i just don't remember him from those two games...i know others have said he was impressive and i know Pep said something about Napoli in general being one of the most impressive teams in europe but i don't remember him standing out from those two games...doesnt mean he wasn't good/didt stand out, just that i don't remember him.....

Ive tried to watch as much online stuff as i can about him and his passing certainly stands out (the range of it especially from the the of intricit balls that silva plays to the longer range of passing that Yaya and Kdb offer as well.
Like i said its just his defensive work I havent seen too much of and thats the key bit for me. Looking forward to watching him

you could always go an rewtch full matches? It's difficult to judge how good someone is defensivley from highlights.

Even from some highlights I've seen, he's good at reading passers to anticipate where the ball is going to be played and has enough strength to get around and shield off anyone who is receiving or playing a little loose with the ball. When he gets it back he seems to immediately look for who to move it to or wait for an opportunity to present himself if he has time.

ill have to believe you on the ability to beat the press as all the videos I've seen of him (some I've watched more than a few times), his passing does stand out BUT he is under very little pressure at all ever

That's due to how Napoli play. Fernandinho often has a lot of time on the ball too and more often than not beating a parked bus opponents press only takes his first touch to take him away from a usually lazy energy conserving closing down. Fortunately we dont play strikers like Firmino every week. But when we do Jorginho is better equipped than Dinho to beat that first press in possession and the relentless closing down when we say win the ball back in our own half. Also in the majority of games where our cdm isnt really harrassed, Jorginho is a better more intricate passer than Dinho, making it easier to break through those deep packed teams. Another benefit of this would be that Kev doesnt have to come deep in possession as often to break those first lines, as he done more and more as the season went on.

I agree. The difference he will have at City is that the team are a lot wider so he would have less room for errors than he did at Napoli but I think he should adapt well. His balls in behind will give an adadde dimension and him being able to bring the ball out of the defence will mean that kevin de Bruyne can stay further up in the build up and be in a better position to attack/defend.

yes obviously them but other teams may follow suit as its the only way that anyone has had any real success against us.....thining that liverpool are the only team that will push us next season is arrogance.....utd, chelski, spurs, arsenal will all improve so we have to as well. The signing of Mahrez Im really comfortable with....but the signing of a central midfielder is the absolutely critical one and one we must get right. I don't rate Ilky enough to be comfortable to only have Ferna in there as we got a way with him not having any injuries last year that meant he was pretty much always available.
I can certainly see some aspects of what Jorginho brings with his passing (and the range of that) but its his other attributes that we need as well to be correct....going to watch the Italy vs Frane game at 8pm..hopefully he will be playing as I saw him vs Saudi but that was more of a practise match...hopefuly playing against a decent team will enable him to show what he has got.
I don't think Liverpool is the only team that would push us next season. Don't put words I didn't utter in my mouth. I never spoke of anyone who may or may not challenge us for the title next season. But that's a different topic.

Rather I was simply listing the teams that fit the criteria you set.

If more teams wanna come out and play, I'd applaud them regardless of outcomes. And teams can beat us without pressing us. Wigan did. But none of that is relevant here.

What is relevant however ( at least from your original post) was your worry about Jorghino based on 'your belief' that he 'cant handle aggressive teams that press' .... I was simply saying even if we took that worry on it's face and believed it to be true. All we'd conclude from that would be that he'll struggle againda Pool.

So in the end not worth worrying about.

Well spurs tried last season and it didn’t work out well for them.

It's good that you don't remember him. That's the whole point.

Does Sergio Busquets stand out? Almost never. Because he's had Messi and Iniesta around him for the last ten years. But would they achieve what they have without Busquets?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that functional players like Busquets (and, indeed, Jorginho) are absolutely central to the style of play that Pep wants to play. Arguably there is no position more important to Guardiola than the pivote. They don't get too many goals or assists, they'll never set the world alight, but without them the team is absolutely nothing. Nada.

Don't worry that you can't remember him. He was there, and that in itself is enough.

Starts for Italy. Mendy is on the bench for France. Italy's defence will have a hard time against Pogba-Griezmann-Mbappe-Dembele attack. No Giroud.

when i wrote push us...i meant press us....(the tactic of)

Liverpool adopted that tactic.....im sure others will next season...both press us and push us.....therefore it is something that should concern us in our preparations. Like i said I've not seen enough of him to judge him either way and Im not..Im saying i hope he can handle it.....I have no problem with this signing if it happens but just saying that he will need to be able to cope with it.
