It's good that you don't remember him. That's the whole point.

Does Sergio Busquets stand out? Almost never. Because he's had Messi and Iniesta around him for the last ten years. But would they achieve what they have without Busquets?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that functional players like Busquets (and, indeed, Jorginho) are absolutely central to the style of play that Pep wants to play. Arguably there is no position more important to Guardiola than the pivote. They don't get too many goals or assists, they'll never set the world alight, but without them the team is absolutely nothing. Nada.

Don't worry that you can't remember him. He was there, and that in itself is enough.

Im not worried that i don't remember him..just saying it as someone said i should have been able to judge him off the two games we played against Napoli

when i wrote push us...i meant press us....(the tactic of)

Liverpool adopted that tactic.....im sure others will next season...both press us and push us.....therefore it is something that should concern us in our preparations. Like i said I've not seen enough of him to judge him either way and Im not..Im saying i hope he can handle it.....I have no problem with this signing if it happens but just saying that he will need to be able to cope with it.
Liverpool didnt adopt that tactic, that is how Klopp plays. It isnt a tactic a team can just adopt they to work at it and train hard. It cant be turned on for the odd game.

yes its a tactic they continually use...they have adopted under Klopp if you want to put it that way.

I agree, however Liverpool pushed it several steps on in the games against us. They were fucked for weeks afterwards.

He's won a few balls from pressing in the midfield in this game, beating players into receiving the pass.

Even from some highlights I've seen, he's good at reading passers to anticipate where the ball is going to be played and has enough strength to get around and shield off anyone who is receiving or playing a little loose with the ball. When he gets it back he seems to immediately look for who to move it to or wait for an opportunity to present himself if he has time.

I think the most impressive thing is how often he makes a first time pass. Not just a little lay off or ball round the corner either, but a proper, high quality ball with pace and accuracy. When he's getting pressed and he does that, it just slices through the entire defence because it can take 3 defenders out of the game in an instant.

I know a few people are worried about him defensively but if anything I think he might pick up a lot of silly fouls and yellow cards because they let a lot of fouls go in Italy where you go through someone to get to the ball, and they let you get hands on too, I've seen him make quite a few tackles for Napoli where he's won the ball back and thought it was a foul more often than not in the PL.

well until the stream i was watching completely failed he was the best player on the park for Italy....he was being badly let down by the rest of his midfield. He was dictating to others where to press, where to defend but they weren't doing it. Neat and tidy as well
