Its hardly a recurring theme either given one player has at the last minute had a change of heart and neither can the blame for that change be blamed on anyone other than Alves himself?

Whats become evidently clear is as a Club, we walk away from any deal we don't think is financially sound, see Sanchez and the club should be applauded for that whilst still assembling a squad that has just won the league breaking every record in the books.

Alves has a last min change of heart yeah but if we ran that risk by not signing him first then letting him leave on holiday. And again with Sanchez we ran the risk of another club signing him by telling him to wait and it happened. our transfer team brought us many great players but they make mistakes sometimes as well.
With Jorginho I don't know what could have went wrong if it doesn't happen but I still think it's inexcusable to be chasing a player for two months only for him to go to a weaker club.
By slow and complacent I'm referring to us being so assured that the player only wants us when they tell us they want to join then run the risk of him going elsewhere and it backfires sometimes. Sometimes you have to minimize as much risk as possible.

I said if it does happen then questions should be asked if it doesn't then I'll be just as happy as anyone else when we sign him. Personally I still think he is joining and hope he does. But if he does else go to Chelsea then we need to look at things because in my view a club as big as us shouldn't be missing out on targets we were so close to signing so frequently. That was my point

Only my opinion but I dont think our management care two hoots whether Chelsea enter the fray or not. If he does go to chelsea we have avoided a bullet because he wasn't committed enough to join City if he does join City it shows he is committed and we end up with a fully focused player.

I find it really bizarre that people can be so negative towards people who have given us so much. Perhaps it's because I grew up in Moss Side, when neither the club or my family had a pot to piss in.

Indeed it does.

I think the current state of play is:
Wants to come, as does his agent to mend bridges with City, but De Laurentis is trying to get more cash from someone else (i.e. Chelsea).

For what its worth it seems to me we are in the same boat as Dani Alves last year, we have agreed with the player and agent that a deal is to be done, the club arem't forcing the deal through until everyone's back, the only issue with that approach is that if like with Alves another club comes in at the last minute.

Personally I see no reason to believe that that's the case, but it is a risk and we do have form for missing out on players as a result
