To be fair, Lovren and van Dijk actually started to look like a decent partnership, but beneath the level they want to be. Maybe it's just me but I don't consider our stance to be admired because it yet again means we could miss out on a primary target due to us not paying up.
As much as we may not like it, Pep isn't the be all and end all for every player, money is a bigger factor. If we don't pay the money the selling club is asking for, but another club will then we shouldn't complain when we repeatedly miss out on targets.

All reports recently suggest they are sticking with Karius, which if they do puts them at a huge disadvantage to all their competitiors. As for Lovren, i agree he did look better along side VVD who was an excellent signing. However, he a massive weak link and they don't have much cover for him. It definitely has its place, but the issue gets bigger after we miss out on a main target. Once clubs with alternatives that we are interested in get wind of our needs, they'll make us pay even more for players beneath what we originally wanted. Paying whatever fee for Jorginho is fine, but we shouldn't have to pay that same price for a lesser player.This.
