Pogba has all the attributes in the world to be one of the worlds elite players, he just needs the right manager. Pep would have been perfect for him think he would be the best player in the league under Pep he’s that good.
Not unless he has a brain transplant

Yes. But he is small. Not unexpected.

He won’t be in the team to win aerial battles, he is in the team to rotate the ball and consistently recycle the possession. I admit that sometimes it feels we need a big powerful unit in midfield but there is nobody out there who is attainable who could offer the physical side and enough technical ability.
Part of what Fernandinho was doing this season, when the goal lumps it forward, was shielding the back four so Stones, Oti or Komps are not battling one on one with the six foot forward. He doesnt have to win the header just challenge for it.

Why would we do that when It works so well?
No player in our team has won more headers than Fernandinho it's an integral part of our high line/keep ball game. Allows the cbs to track the runners/compete for the second ball and not be outnumbered on counter attacks.
At 5'11 Jorginho is bigger than Dinho so you'd hope he can compete for headers anyway.
This whole season has worked be well, tetif we want to continue to win, We will change some of it.

That's how you stay ahead of the curve. I'm not saying this is what we will or must change. Just saying lots of things can be changed. And a DM winning headers isn't generally integral to success. It was integral to our particular success. But the 2 champions prior to us didn't have it, so clearly 'that quality isn't dispositive to success.

I get what you're saying but Pep isn't going to drop our line deeper ever so the CDM has to compete for headers in his system. Busquets did it for him, his cdm did it for him at Bayern(usually Xabi), Dinho is doing it now. that's not going to change.

Xabi maybe, but not really with Busquets. He didn't do much of winning headers... In fairness, there simply weren't as many long balls, but he, Busquets, was never really a header merchant. Puyol did most of that work.

And you don't have to move your defensive line deeper. In fact you could move it higher and make the CBs challenge for headers instead of the DM.

By the way, Laporte, Otamendi and Kompany are 3 of the best airball challengers in the game. So it would not surprise me if they take up the load of that responsibility.

Then they lose the header and the opponents are through on goal

Again, it's not that mathematical. Even now, Digno has always shared that responsibility with one of the CBs. Last year it was Otamendi, the last couple of months it's been Laporte. But rather than having a 40% share, Jurghino will have a 20% share. Which will mean the CBs and fullbacks will pickup the other 20%

Someone's been pulling your leg mate.

absolutely devastated

Fabinho doesn't play on the left side... He used to play right back but doesn't want to anymore.
my mistake ..thought it was left back he use to cover for....

i thinke he would play where pep wants him to play...look at deep and the changing roles of sergio, KDB as well...pleayers adapt to what pep wants

No doubt, Fernandinho has a pretty unique set of skills and will be very difficult to replace. On paper Fabinho looks to be the best match but not a single link or rumour means either he isn’t rated or already has a move lined up. I’m sure I remember seeing a deal with PSG talked about but Monaco wouldn’t allow it all in the same summer (Mbappe, Silva and Mendy all leaving last year)

I've seen very little of Jorginho in truth & I had my heart set on Fred which doesn't look like it's ever gonna happen.

But to those who've see both, whose the better fit?
Fred and Ndombele are like Dinho - very energetic ball-winners able to defend large spaces thanks to their athleticism.

Jorginho (and Weigl in his best form) is a 'Busquets', great passer that rarely loses the ball under pressure. IMO Pool games have clearly shown that City need the latter type of DM.

Isn't it a bad thing to buy a player for 2/4 games?? Obviously Fred type player or Fred himself was out first priority

hed be playing that position in all games he plays, i think what he was trying to say was that our losses this season have shown that we need the type of player that busquets is

Sounds too good to be true. I'm afraid it's just a starting price, they'll try to sell him to the highest bidder (Chelsea and rags say hello).
