You think it's controversial to suggest that Ferna might slow down at some point? The guy is 33 and had done a tremendous job for us, but he's played a ton of football and is getting older. Seems straightforward

I've changed that Ronaldo comment to "reportedly" so it doesnt sound like a "fact" ;)

As for being Out of touch? I'm basing that on the fact we released a brief saying it was all a "ruse" and Chelsea hadnt even been in contact with the player, while at the very same time there was pictures, Video and reports confirming he had already said goodbye to his team and heading to London? My point is not to slag off the club but it really doesnt take much to work out, they must have been completely in the dark (rightly or wrongly) to brief the press like that when evidence suggested the complete opposite, unless you have another take on that?

We take a hardline with transfers these days and have a new approach where we no longer push-overs and that means we'll get outbid alot more often than we use to. In my opinion, the brief yesterday was the only strange thing that didnt make sense to me, as there was enough evidence on the net to show he was clearly saying goodbye to Napoli and heading off for a new start but we seemed oblivious to the fact any other team was involved(i.e Chelsea)....It made the club look out of touch with what was really going on and that was my only issue.

I'm not going to slag the club off for missing out on another midfielder and more interested to see what there next plan is, as I trust this club to move quickly to fill this need. The speed they moved on from Alves last summer was first class and they deserved alot of credit for that....I trust they will do the same after missing out on Jorginho.

Clearly they are not impossible to do,they do however have both clubs and a player in the deal,we agreed a deal with both then napoli dragged their heels to get it formalised to get the chavs involved,at this point it's out of our hands if napoli bring the chavs in and the player has his head turned,i'm staggered anyone thinks transfers are easy,it's very naive,the player is committing themselves and their family to years in another country,if they wobble then they do,grow up

Because you don't have a deal until you have the ticket. In your example you wouldn't book flights and hotel before getting the ticket would you?
 
Controversial, I know, but I would give United their money back right now for Pogba if I thought they would sell to us?

His lateral movement and long passing is excellent, he could really take to the role with Pep teaching him some things.

In addition to his height and physicality, he has shown at the World Cup in a proper team shape that he is a top player.

Offered to us in January don't forget.

Like any business surely the question should be is it legal?
We pay our legal department to presumably oversee that area so I presume we had not reached that stage?

It really must be leaving a very bitter taste in the mouth to all the ones that work on these deals but to then get kicked in the balls.

He certainly would have gone to print as would the other tame Chelsea hack at the Telegraph (Ben Rumsby) and in other papers. Even the wording in the Standard/Metro is no more than rumour.
The italian journalist tweets menrioned above are ADL/Napoli patsies so will do whatever De Laurentis wants them too.
City are silent as is Jorgiho and his agent.
The conclusion is that Chelsea and Napoli want it to happen but there is zero evidence to show it is actually happening.
There is also zero evidence to show he's comming to us either.
This one has a long way to go I think.

No doubt, although we were very clear with Sanchez that we didn't care where he went to if he wasn't prepared to wait until this summer to come to City.

As is the fact we line up three or four different options for when things such as this happen in football.

Since the dawn of time......occasionally it's probably even predicted,hence why we wil always have an alternative.Football transfer dealings can be a very murky affair.

This is a genuine reply mate as respect your view....in the example you mention, I'd pay the man and get my ticket as soon as all agreed....wouldnt give him the chance to think I wasnt fully committed or leave it up to chance that someone else might be interested in that same ticket. Wouldnt you want to question why he was delaying the transaction when you had already agreed to pay want he asked for?

Agree, but at a certain point it is your fault if you allow yourself to be strung along by a less than trustworthy counterparty. These things happen obviously but hindsight would suggest we made an error but not either closing the deal when we were close weeks ago or moving on.
