Jose for City? (merged)

Mourinho is complaining that his players are fatigued and it looks like he might be going to spurs for a nil nil. Food for thought ;-)

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has declared his side 'dead' ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

The Portuguese coach suffered his first home defeat in 150 matches when his side were shocked 1-0 by Sporting Gijon in the La Liga on Saturday, a defeat which effectively killed off their title hopes as they trail leaders Barcelona by eight points.

However, the Los Blancos' Champions League hopes remain alive as they host Tottenham in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

Looking forward to the highly ancitipated clash, Mourinho isn't in the most confident of moods and admitted he would settle for a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I know our limitations, because the players are dead," the Special One was quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

"Even if we'd drawn 0-0 it would have been a bad result in the league. Against Spurs, though, it would be a good result - or at least it would not be a drama, especially if we have injured players back for the decisive game in London."
The former Chelsea boss also lamented on the absence of his creative players including Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a major doubt for Tuesday's game.

He added: "We lacked all our creative players, except Mesut Ozil.

"If Cristiano plays against Spurs it is because he and I are taking a risk. The doctor says he will only be for for the game Bilbao next week.

"Marcelo is out for for two weeks and Karim Benzema will only come to Bilbao and London, not play the home game.

"We could ignore the medical department but if it went wrong you would kill me and that would be risk.

"Now we have to see if we play people to try to settle the tie in the first leg or if we are are satisfied with a draw.

"But 0-0 at home is good and even 1-1 is not dramatic. It would be all open. So I'll talk to the injured players and decide whether we risk them."

This is the first time in seven years that Madrid have reached the last eight of Europe's premier club competition.

Oh deary dear. That will shut some of the Mancini bashers up. Didn't they use his "tiredness excuse" and playing for draws as a reason to sack him and get Jose in?

End of thread.

has the negativity around mancini emerged from one game? if not then why do you think the thread should be ended because of one game?

did liverpool fans say "end of thread" about hodgeson going when they beat bolton 1-0 new years day?

No - the thread should never have started and certainly not discussed during the season when we haven't been out of the top 4 and still in the cup.

It was idiocy debating it last week. Nothing has changed.

-- Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:14 pm --

you cheated.

So that's two of us then ;-)

I don't know about you but I received several pm's that agreed with me that the players looked happy at the game yesterday and played well despite all the "in fighting, lack of team spirit" etc etc etc.

3 of us ;-)

Came on last night after the game and have said several times today so far that credit where it is due.

Makes me laugh that those that decry posters as clinging to a loss or bad performance and using it a stick to beat Bobby with do the exact same thing to posters with a good performance ;-)

Great win yesterday that is being enjoyed by EVERYONE.

More of the same between now and the end of the season please Bobby.

biggest knee jerk was the chelsea loss. loads couldn't wait to get on here and scream for mancini's head on a plate. For me its over, it done with and nobody will change my mind about our manager. I want him here !
if the owner decides he goes then so be it but until that day bob has my full support. the cabal are wrong.

Will the owner be equally as wrong or is it ok for him to want rid should that situation arise?

Haha, I'm happy that you're enjoying it!

No, the argument was never that you're a 'bad fan', or that you don't get behind the team. The argument is that you know fuck all about football.

Which is borne out by yesterday's result. Which is why you now have to suck it up.
