I can understand why some would put Robinsons on the (s)hit list as I've had a few bad pints myself. If however you get a pub that knows how to look after it, it can be a decent drink. Unicorn can be a fine ale and I particularly like a Dizzy Blonde or two in the summer.

Nice pint of Unicorn in the Briton's Protection.

Fat Dave from the Boat has gone to the Same Yet as a tenant.

Not him, but a certain other ex Boat (in Chadderton) manager who shall remain nameless, recently applied for one of my missus's pubs...didn't get to interview stage as we used to go in the Boat when he was manager...beer and standards were awful, lol.

I only know Fat Dave, only been going in the past 4 or 5 year or so so dont know any previous.

holt's bitter was class back when we were hard up. a cheap night playing pool in the holt's houses of eccles were the order of the day, rat-arsed pissed for just over a tenner. the lamb hotel, the old bull's head, the park hotel in monton, cloudie's. many a decent night amongst those shitholes.

give it time and my old man (blue10high) will add his two pence worth.

Anyone who doesn't enjoy a pint of Holts's isn't a real man.
Correct.

The problem is that all the "haters" of Holts', Robbies & Hyde's are giving up during the first pint - the first one always tastes like shit and I dont normally get 'the taste' until half-way through the second, but it's liquid gold from there on.

Man-up FFS!

i remember when they used to sell regal Lager, cheap but evil
Ahh it must have taken the marketing people a long long time to come up with that well thought out name for a beer "regal" lager spelt backwards......genius

Developed a liking for Holt's Diamond lager at one point cos it was strong and cheap.

Many a Friday night went out for a couple of pints after work in the Crown and Anchor near the Shambles and ended up monged on the tram later on.

Don't touch the stuff any more - stick to the Crystal if I'm in a Holt's pub.
