Agreed, even considering it’s no longer 6 for 2 spots… Ake, Akanji, Gvardiol, Stones all set to play multiple/hybrid roles in what is a rock solid defence! Still, it does seem 1 too many and Laporte is the obvious choice. However, he is still world class and gets in most teams, so I assume the bids will come.

Ake and Akanji can play full back, Stones is now a midfielder.

I’m not sure that last part is true… he’s been a revelation in the hybrid role, but I don’t see him being used solely as a midfielder. I’m sure he could do it, he can do whatever he wants it seems, but he’s still a defender and will be used that way for me.
 
I don't see how Laporte can spend another season the bench. Pau Torres and Inigo Martinez have got themselves big moves this summer and if they have good seasons then Laporte will be on the bench for Spain as well.

Ake is now a lb.

Stones is now a midfielder.

We need gvardiol just to make up the numbers again.

I’d be delighted if we start with those choices and Walker next season
 
I know we have a load of CBs but it’s how we play now. We have only 1 real full back in Walker. The balance looks mad but thats how we roll now. You could say we need 3 full backs!

See no problem with it aslong as we stick to this new system.

Gvardiol looks as though he could play defensive midfield, no sweat. Pep seems to like having a sort of kaleidoscope of players who can play anywhere in those final two lines on the pitch. I'm sure at a pinch Ed would like to come out and swap jerseys with Kyle Walker from time to time.
 
So are we just waiting for Leipzig to get a replacement in before this becomes official so they don’t get absolutely rinsed?
