It is more to do with the overall mentality. It is controlling the urges that is the issue. At 21 and £100m that can't be overlooked. RB Leipzig supporters have mentioned this on their own forum.

Indeed, preferring superior positioning & anticipation and yet there he is, making slide tackles & not being inadequate. I think everyone would prefer our defenders not having to make slide tackles if they can avoid it (and still win possession) but have the ability to make them effectively when needed.

Ta, nothing that cant be coached it seems. They were happy with his level under Rose until the end of the season. All the tools in the mix, can see why the club are pulling the trigger

I've seen a few comments (not necessarily here) that he's aggressive and jumps in a lot - if Pep can calm down Otamendi and turn him into one of Europe's best (2017/18) then he can do it with anybody.

Nothing wrong with a sliding tackle when timed to perfection. The problem is that if it isn't, your taken out of the game or conceding a red or yellow card
