Wasn’t impressed in two games against us.If we are in for him, it will have been after extensive analysis and scouting. We will not be judging him only in one game against us.
And that's your choice. I am sure that the club's scouting and performance analysts will be looking at him and others, and will probably have been doing so for several seasons. If we look at our team, there have been several games this season when even our top players have looked poor.Wasn’t impressed in two games against us.
Theres rumours coming from germany that the fee will be more like around 85 million, so below the release clause apparently. think it was bild that wrote that.IMO the move here is to target the €85m release clause next summer. Nail the player and agent down, get it all sorted like Haaland and then see if Leipzig can be tempted to bring things forward.
I feel that we are at a point now where we are good enough and attractive enough to players that we can take longer positions and sit out the current Chelsea inspired craziness.
For £75/€85m Gvardiol is an absolute steal, he'll be 22 and could anchor the defence for over a decade.
At £115m there's suddenly a lot more pressure on him. Any mistake is going to be blown up in the media and socials, the heirarchy in the club gets a bit weird because it gives a player a sort of unearned rank if you cost a club record fee, players like Aké could rightfully assume they're being replaced not complemented.
Not to mention the outrage of two 9 figure signings in a single window would probably be genuinely distracting for the club and insufferable for the fans.

I dont think the club are that bothered by outside noise they get the players we need and i think they will point to laporte leaving and offsetting he fee they recieve for him. I think the media are going to go after us anyway because its going to be a big spending summer. However it will be offset by players such as bernie laporte and cancelo all going plus youngsters.
To be fair he has been massively hyped due to his age, i have watched more than two games :) and he is a good player playing in a counter attacking team, so has plenty of support when he makes a mistake, is he worth the money? nope, is he as good than what we have? nope, will he improve and become worth the money? for me that is nope, i simply do not believe he has the ability to improve.Wasn’t impressed in two games against us.
does not have the ability to improve. Hes just turned 21.To be fair he has been massively hyped due to his age, i have watched more than two games :) and he is a good player playing in a counter attacking team, so has plenty of support when he makes a mistake, is he worth the money? nope, is he as good than what we have? nope, will he improve and become worth the money? for me that is nope, i simply do not believe he has the ability to improve.
Some players you can see the failures and how to improve them, he is a good player but he is not going to grow an inch and become commanding in the air , he is not going to get faster to play the high back line, he is a follower not a leader at the moment, reaction, first touch normaly decide how far you go, not all players improve with age/experience, he is as good as he is going to get for me.does not have the ability to improve. That's your option and I respect that. I think the club probably think otherwise. He's coming in to replace laporte. Who himself isn't fast or a leader.... But saying someone won't improve at 21 is the bit I dont agree with. Ake went up a level when we signed him. Akanji is better here than he was at Dortmund. So to say this guy isnt going to improve when many scouts, clubs think he's got the potential to do so doesn't sit right with me. Fair do`s you have a different opinion to mine, i am not a believer that the press know who City are targeting as first choice, and Ake did not go up a level, at Chelsea he was regarded as a very good left back that they did not want to lose, at his next club he was their best player, Akanji is not better he has just returned to form, he could get better if he learns leadership and cuts out his dependance on pace. That's your option and I respect that. Neither Akanji or Gvardiol in same class as Laporte imhoThat's your option and I respect that. I think the club probably think otherwise. He's coming in to replace laporte. I wasnt saying they were it was a point about being able to improve under pep.Neither Akanji or Gvardiol in same class as Laporte imho
Ake didn't go up a level? Are you kidding? Last season and the season before that no one would've batted an eye if he was sold and now people are begging for his contract extension. Clear evidence that he has gotten better.Fair do`s you have a different opinion to mine, i am not a believer that the press know who City are targeting as first choice, and Ake did not go up a level, at Chelsea he was regarded as a very good left back that they did not want to lose, at his next club he was their best player, Akanji is not better he has just returned to form, he could get better if he learns leadership and cuts out his dependance on pace.
Ake has gone up several levels, he was a decent defender but now has become undroppable in one if the best club sides in the world.Fair do`s you have a different opinion to mine, i am not a believer that the press know who City are targeting as first choice, and Ake did not go up a level, at Chelsea he was regarded as a very good left back that they did not want to lose, at his next club he was their best player, Akanji is not better he has just returned to form, he could get better if he learns leadership and cuts out his dependance on pace.

Gone up a level from where? from when he was a bit part CB player at City? or a rock CB at Bournmouth? or a superb LB at Chelsea? Ake is mearly showing why we bought him now he is getting regular game time. But it is interesting that it was his shoulders Gvardiol was climbing on ( a foul not given ) when he scored. Chelsea came in for Ake during the summer, and City refused to sell.Ake has gone up several levels, he was a decent defender but now has become undroppable in one if the best club sides in the world.
The transformation in him is incredible.
Exactly a rock CB at Bournemouth, just because he was Mammoth there doesn't mean he would cut it at City. However he has come in and been one of our most consistent players at a high level and has kept one of the best wingers in Saka on lock twice. Ake has clearly gone up a level, consistency is hard to achieve and maintain for so long.Gone up a level from where? from when he was a bit part CB player at City? or a rock CB at Bournmouth? or a superb LB at Chelsea? I get what your saying but I think Akanji is also underrated...I think he is a very good 1vs1 defender.....positionally suspect at times and lacks a little concentration (part of the same thing I guess) but he has some very strong attributes.Neither Akanji or Gvardiol in same class as Laporte imho
