We need to beef up midfield and the wings, they should be top priority. If we can get those sorted then we can start worrying about dropping the age profile in defence.

We need to get defence sorted because we are conceding way too goals from easy or nothing chances . Ruban Dias was great when he came in but has not kicked on like he should and Laporte is another who can be great but can also cost us . Wouldn’t be pissed of to see the back of Laporte tbh

That's fuck all to do with the individual defenders though Paul, it's the way we play. Stick prime Baresi and Maldini in our system and once you bypass the inverted full backs with a couple of pacy players against our high line of 2 defenders they're going to be in trouble. Alternatively stick any 2 of our centre halves in a conservative line with two orthodox full backs and a screening midfielder and they'll look as solid as fuck.

We could do with a left back but centre half is probably the least of our worries along with keeper and striker.

Laporte had knee surgery for the second time this summer.

Knee surgery requires like 9 full months of recovery for pace roughly so by March we should see him back at his speedy self.

Look at Voldemort.. he was absolutely bullied by Reece James in the game where Aguero missed the panenka. Look at his pace before and after surgery.

And lets not forget Aguero's pace before and after knee surgery either.

Harsh on Laporte. Pretty sure Nunez has recorded the fastest speed in the PL this season. Not sure any CB would be able to live with that pace when your team plays such a high defensive line.
