My stance hasn’t changed after last night, he looked poor on the ball cos nobody moved for him and the keeper was flapping like a seagull in a cyclone (I know in his defence we pressed well)

The difference for me, he was the only player across their whole team who actively wanted the ball and tried to get them moving forward even when the score started piling up, he would be a very good signing and I think would work especially well in the premier league due to teams sitting off against us and parking the bus.

I said I wouldn’t pay £100m + and I would prioritise a full back/backs, but I’d like to see him in a City shirt and that hasn’t changed.

If we can get him for roughly the amount we recover from Cancelo and Laporte combined I’d be 100% all for it.

You haven’t watched him much then, he’s rapid.

I never put too much faith in the speedometer readings but his fastest recorded speed is about the same as Van Dijk’s.
I’m not buying that. Maybe his top speed is quite fast, but off the mark he looks slow as fuck. Mahrez spun him on the byline last night when there was pretty much nowhere to go. Messi embarrassed him at the World Cup (yeah, it’s Messi but he’s 35 and still beat him in a sprint) and there was a few times in the first leg which I thought he looked a bit heavy.

Don’t really care if you buy it or not, he’s rapid. Anyone whos watched him regularly can tell you that, or read any profile analysing why so many clubs want him and one of the main things they’ll talk about is recovery pace. Or watch him go stride for stride with Haaland several times 3 weeks ago.

Messi didn’t beat him in a sprint anyway, can’t take anyone who would categorise that big of skill as a sprint seriously.

I agree about the fullbacks and £100m would buy two top quality ones!

I also think that if Ake signs a new deal then we don't really need him this summer.

Happy to admit I was irked that the deal to Chelsea didn’t work out for Ake as I thought the £45-£50m quoted was pulling their pants down and smacking their arse.

What a turn around for the lad and I’d be gutted to see him leave for double that now, but he looks right at home and I expect the club to prioritise a good deal for him this summer and keep him here, it’s also easy to forget he’s only just turned 28 as he’s been around the premier league for so long, I think he can improve considerably too.

Should be an interesting window especially with the premier league money eagle flying overhead.

Here’s a tool I use, granted it’s only UCL as opposed to domestically but it gives a basic picture compared to Dias, as expected due to the way we play Dias plays a lot more balls in to midfield and has the ball at feet a lot more his distribution therefore is a lot more frequent, although Gvardiol’s is by no means bad.

Interestingly from a purely defensive standpoint arguably Gvardiol edges it (clearances, tackles, blocks etc.) again arguably as Leipzig are under more pressure.

Not basing it off of last night but I don't think you should ever be spending close to 100M on a center back.

It's not like left-back for example where there's almost a complete lack of genuine top-class players in that position and you need to overpay.
