Well that makes no sense because none of Romano's tweets mentioned a fee. And as pointed out here, everyone already knew RBL's price. The noses out of joint must be because neither side wanted it known that a fee (obviously high even if undisclosed) had been agreed, for their own business reasons.

It seems most likely the leaker to Romano was Gvardiol's agent, both out of excitement and wanting to push the deal over the line for his client, which has spectacularly backfired. No reason to think City told his agent, though. Could have been any of the parties who'd been at the table.

What few people seem to be mentioning is how unhappy Gvardiol himself must be about this dragging on and on. He's clearly committed to the move and must want to get on with it. If RBL cause this deal not to be completed, he's going to be pretty pissed off with them, surely. We never want unhappy players around. Do Leipzig?
 
What doesn’t make sense here to me is that all of the briefing about this being a world record fee for a defender have come from RBL side.

Up to the deal being actually verbally complete, City have done our usual way and kept schtum. Bit rich for RBL to be complaining that the fee is now out there when they’ve been talking it up for months.

Maybe they’ve just had a bit too much Red Bull and got excited
 
this deal been dragging for too long and potentially we are loosing several players and we still dont have replacement .Winning the treble is the best time for strengthening to maintain the gap other team are doing that to close it . I think with out pep we would ve been in difficult position unfortunately.

No reason why we would.The only reason whoever is annoyed by the leak would be annoyed is if the leak was correct. I tale @tolmie's hairdoo as being right, it's been agreed a while and for whatever reason kept under wraps. Now it's leaked people aren't happy. Still expect when it blows over the clubs will control the announcement in their own time.

Fingers crossed mate, would just to be nice to have the new players in and squad settled asap.

Yeah i always find this narrative that a club wants to buy first to hide what transfer fee they are getting for a player. In this day and age its laughable that that sort of thing apparently can be hidden

If we are to believe the leak is the issue, then it can't be true that we are haggling over 15m or whatever.
