Joy Division/New Order

One of the out-takes in the classic 24 Hour Party People shows Blue Rob Gretton (played by Paddy Considine a rag but a great actor), bringing Red Tony Wilson (played by Stve Coogan a Blue and a shit actor), going to a City game and them geting into some agro. Should have made the final cut. Joy Division, I always sing Transmission coming into Manchester Airport when travelling over.

couldn't believe it when I heard stoke singing it. felt even worse than hearing the paul young version destroy such a great song.

Rob Gretton used to go for a beer in the gardners arms before home games saw him a few times never had the balls to go up and talk new order though

Loads of new order/ joy divison several banners around the ground.

Would love to hear us sing something like atmosphere

or maybe he's lost control again to de jung as he's about to smash gary neville's head in

it's She's Lost Control, and I don't think Atmosphere would work to well except maybe after Mario scores("Don't walk away.... in silence", hahaa!)

how about this, it'd make a good chant, Digital- couple slight changes and it'd be good for leading up to a goal
"Feel it closing in,
Feel it closing in,
The fear of whom I call,(maybe change to "Fear who's on the ball")
Every time I(he) call(s)
I feel it closing in,
I feel it closing in,
Day in, day out,(GET IN, KEEP IT OUT)
Day in, day out...(GET IN, KEEP IT OUT) REPEAT as Ian does

I feel it closing in,
As patterns seem to form.
I feel it cold and warm.
The shadows start to fall.
I feel it closing in,
I feel it closing in,
Day in, day out,(GET IN, KEEP IT OUT)
Day in, day out...(GET IN, KEEP IT OUT)"

etc... or some such thing

Digital is my favourite Joy Division track!

Gretton, hooky (Bass) and Curtis were city fans. Think sumner was a red. Not sure about the drummer Morris (?) or the bird later in new order.

morris was a macc fan and i'm sure hooky was a gloryhunter rag mate

-- Tue Dec 07, 2010 3:51 pm --

i'm certain that is based loosely on one of rob grettons away days with city to forest....instead of tony wilson it should have been mike pickering

To the tune of 'She's lost control'

He'll take on your defender and he'll score a goal,
He'll score a goal again, Balotelli
Mar-i-ooo Balotelli, Mar-i-ooo Balotelli
Mar-i-ooo Balotelli, Mar-i-ooo Balotelli
Mar-i-ooo Balotelli, Mar-i-ooo Balotelli
etc.

(the 'Balotelli/Mario Balotelli' bit is meant to be the little tune bit)

Yeah Curtis and Gretton were City fans, the rest I think occasionally claimed to be rags but weren't really that into football (despite doing the WC song, they were only in it for the £££),

Top top bands though, Lonesome Tonight by New Order is my favourite song of all time.

just you tubed this song and I love it...any more little gems you can introduce me to ?

Boy oh boy, with Joy Division & New Order where do you start?

Here however are a few to get you started though:

I could go on and on, Disorder, Vanishing Point, All Day Long, Dreams Never End, Everything's Gone Green, Elegia...

The thing with both bands is though, their best tracks aren't necessarily their best well known ones, they have loads of hidden gems, b-sides and album tracks.

PS I'm glad I shared Lonesome Tonight with you. Wish I could here that song for the first time again :(
