Couldn’t be bothered with the England so bare watched the game and don’t watch him for his club but in the England game he looked to be playing like an attacking mid role tho it was only San Marino I know we do not need a Fernandinho clone there is a limit to how attacking his replacement can be otherwise he just won’t be a Fernandinho replacement and we will be unbalanced
Can't say I've watched him much myself but he looks capable of playing deeper if necessary.

That said we've got the wonderful Romeo Lavia in the EDS who will make a major impact sooner rather than later. And that's not to mention the likes of Tommy Doyle. We really don't need Bellingham.

I suspect the comment was more generic in that we need another defensive midfielder to compensate for the loss of Dinho, thats how i read it anyway.

Rodri is most definitely first choice, yes.
Not for me, there’s a good majority who simply don’t appreciate the player, which will be the same ones who took 5 years to realise how important Dinho was...

If Rodri was indeed kept in such high esteem, then you’d write we need an understudy for him

It is odd that people don't see what Rodri brings to the team,he rarely has a bad game.

Back to Jude, this 'we dont need him' take is truly bizarre.Basic logic dictates....If we want to be the dominant force in world football then we always need players that are better than what we have. Its the same with Grealish ;-)

Sooner or later we are going to have to compete with Dortmund for some of these kids - they are hoovering them up - developing them short term and making a killing in short term profit. Maybe CFG needs a team in Germany.

If Lavia can be as good as it's hoped then it may be there is an opportunity for another youth player to break into the first team like Foden.

Gundogan can cover as a 6 or an 8 when required for another season which could allow Lavia to develop more at which point he could be truly ready as the backup CDM.

It can't just be Foden that breaks through and the current situation seems to suggest there might be a realistic pathway into the first team for a player who is extremely highly rated.

Who doesn’t rate Rodri? Not seen anyone saying that, but a load of passive aggressive bitchiness about it, which is a bit bizarre.

The fact is, Fernandinho isn’t going to last forever. Gundogan’s growing in importance as an 8.

We’re going to need another midfielder who can play as a 6, and Bellingham looks tailor made for us.

Spend some time in the Rodri thread...

This kid is very special, you can see it. Looks like a baby Ferna, I'd have him in a heartbeat.
Not quite ready for us yet at 17 though.
