A second striker more like performance vs Italy.

I am not sure if it is what Southgate asked him to do or it is his preference.

With Rice and Phillips in there he was definitely playing more as a no.10 and in the first half he was brilliant. The issue currently is that he can't control or dictate the game. He needs to learn how to control the tempo and give England that when we are under pressure, which tends to be when we are winning and for long periods.

Considering he is younger than Cole Palmer yet has buckets of talent and experience, I think Pep can help him do that and improve further.

At moments in the first half he was unplayable and that's why he is such a special talent. Strength, skill, pace, power.

All true. He is a dynamic, direct player, and something that would act as compliment to Rodri's ability to retain possession, as well as Jack's. In essence, IMO he would be more like the KDB of the future. He has things to learn - control of tempo, not to hold the ball too much - but those issues are ones that our game will help with: we have the ball more than England do, and his teammates will be more available to receive the pass than England's are. I am certain that meeting with so many City players, and seeing their nature, will be a very positive aspect of his international appearances.

Some players just can't be sorted..

Zlatan
Ronaldinho
E'to
Angelino
Nasri
Cancelo

Trust him when he cuts them loose
The only guy in football to win 2 ucl titles with 2 different teams in 2 consecutive seasons? I think you got it completely wrong about including Eto'o there. The guy he was swapped with was a huge flop in Barcelona. Pep is a great manager but let's be honest here, he got that call wrong. Terribly wrong.

Cracking player with enormous potential and genuine presence.A way to go.....but shades of Yaya to his game and what he will bring into our 11.
In the first half I can see what you mean. Pace and strength although no final ball that I could see. In the second half where was he?
He is completely different to anything we have in midfield just now and I'm not sure thats a good thing. Pace and strength great, but the ability to link defence with offence? ball retention? assists in the final third? I'm not seeing that.

I don't think that controlling the rhythm is a thing that can be taught. That is nature. Look at Gundo/Bernado or Grealish performance in their early days you can see players with not fully matured body but they had rhythm in their play. IMO Bellingham will never be that type of player but he has some quality to become a good direct powerful and hard working midfielder.

The way he played in his recent England cameos (including WC) left big holes in the midfield defensively. He has little sense of position or use his cover shadow. Also he showed very little ability of receiving in tight space or on half turn. At least not in England shirt. But he is very good at transitions for sure. For me he is a 2nd striker but has the potential to be one of double pivots or a B2B midfield. If he comes Pep needs to make him play with much more discipline.

Feels like next Saturday is the big one to seal the deal
Beat Liverpool and it puts them in the shit for top 4 with Chelsea and arsenal to follow
It shows him the gulf in class between the teams
It also firmly show’s arsenal the title charge is on
…..what could go wrong!

which he would for sure but does he have the raw material that Pep would need or would he just be more suited to a Liverpool type of team where the midfield are nothing but ....well you tell me.

TBH He is more suited for Liverpool. Perfect fit really. Liverpool just cannot afford him though.

He ran the midfield in the 1st half but Italy midfielders are really very light weight in terms of body power. You won't get that everyday in PL. Big guys in Spurs or Utd midfield will make his game very difficult.

He did not offer enough link up to our back line as a 10 role and that was part of the reason why we struggled to get out in 2nd half. That is why I prefer to buy some fullbacks to set Grealish/Foden free to roam inside, rather than spend too much on Jude. If Dortmund really asks for 150M, I would rather to use this money to buy 2 good pacy fullbacks plus one midfielder like Kovačić this summer.
