Jude Bellingham

The way he played in his recent England cameos (including WC) left big holes in the midfield defensively. He has little sense of position or use his cover shadow. Also he showed very little ability of receiving in tight space or on half turn. At least not in England shirt. But he is very good at transitions for sure. For me he is a 2nd striker but has the potential to be one of double pivots or a B2B midfield. If he comes Pep needs to make him play with much more discipline.

I wouldn't agree with that at all. He played in a midfield with Rice and Henderson for the majority of the WC and last night had Rice and Phillips. His job isn't a defensive one. He's there to receive the ball in more attacking space. For Dortmund he's always looking to find little pockets and on the turn can then make things happen, it's a major strength to his game. He's strong and long limbed so even if his touch is bad he often still keeps the ball and then is running at the opposition. With Haaland ahead of him he'll be much more dangerous than with someone like Kane who is often looking to be in that space as well.

We've played Dortmund a few times and Bellingham has been their best player in almost all of those games. He's been an attacking threat and he's also been at the back putting in tackles and defending.

He's much more likely to move into space to score or provide an assist than be the one controlling the tempo of a game, but I still believe he can be moulded into whatever we specifically need. It's much easier to learn to keep the ball and find others in space than it is to learn to turn and spin past players before carrying the ball and creating a chance.

It's a bit like Kev's form recently. Pep just reminded him to do the simple things first, and funnily enough he did and then the through balls and assists came again.

TBH He is more suited for Liverpool. Perfect fit really. Liverpool just cannot afford him though.

He ran the midfield in the 1st half but Italy midfielders are really very light weight in terms of body power. You won't get that everyday in PL. Big guys in Spurs or Utd midfield will make his game very difficult.

He did not offer enough link up to our back line as a 10 role and that was part of the reason why we struggled to get out in 2nd half. That is why I prefer to buy some fullbacks to set Grealish/Foden free to roam inside, rather than spend too much on Jude. If Dortmund really asks for 150M, I would rather to use this money to buy 2 good pacy fullbacks plus one midfielder like Kovačić this summer.
Tin hat on. I think you could make the same argument for Haaland.

Do we know what's wrong with his knee? He looked absolutely knackered after twenty minutes last night but that strapping on his knee and the limp before he came off had me a bit concerned.
He's been carrying an injury, but he's Dortmunds main man so it seems pain killing injections, patching him up & sending him out to play is the order of the day.

He's Dortmund's player, so they'll do as they see fit. They currently lead the Bundesliga, so the chances of Bellingham being rested range from zero to no chance... \0/

I don't think that controlling the rhythm is a thing that can be taught. That is nature. Look at Gundo/Bernado or Grealish performance in their early days you can see players with not fully matured body but they had rhythm in their play. IMO Bellingham will never be that type of player but he has some quality to become a good direct powerful and hard working midfielder.
I'd definitely disagree on this one. He has all the raw tools to be moulded into that sort of player. He can use his body well to protect the ball, has a good eye for a pass and his reading of the game is good for a young player. Six months under pep will see these attributes polished up to make him even better. We've got to remember how good a coach pep is, especially for midfielders.

Yeah I saw the images of him with his knee strapped earlier this week.

He just looked really heavy and worn out. Reminded me of Kev when you can clearly see he needs a break. That coupled with the limping thing has just concerned me a bit.

Dortmund did the same with Haaland last season. To be fair though, Erling admitted he wanted to keep playing so as not to effect his potential transfer. Luckily he had the summer & World Cup to recover.

However it seems both Dortmund & England are happy to rinse the Bellingham. If he's happy to play, then there'a little anyone can do about it.

He's a Dortmund & England player, so it's their call & they're evidently looking at their interests above Bellingham's welfare...
