I’ve never been particularly impressed with him and don’t see where ‘he’s got the lot’.

He looks okay, decent for his age, but has he really ‘got the lot’?

He is young though and there’s years and years of improving to come but he completely went missing for most of the two City-Dortmund games this season. He played a few decent passes and a headed goal that Akanji should have headed clear at the Etihad, yet he had just 32 touches in that game, and I don’t remember him doing anything at all in the last hour of their game at their place where he had just 29 touches of the ball in the entire game (Haaland nearly had that many at Old Trafford the other week… Rodri had 142 touches in that game at Dortmund, no that’s not a typo, one hundred and forty-two!). City didn’t really play well in that game and Dortmund were at home and needed to win and he didn’t really do a thing after about the 30min mark.

Then for England in the WC, in both games we faced a decent midfield (against USA and France), I thought he looked quite average. Thought his involvement in the game and passing quality the small amount of times he was involved against France was poor.

There’s a lot of hype around this lad that I’m not entirely sure is merited yet.
this analysis of bellingham is closer to reality. I don't think he is bad at all, just overhyped. still he is one of the most promising young midfielder around. but is nowhere ready to dominate a game against high level PL teams. he can improve a lot of his weakness. but his major strength and his best work comes near the opposition box not near the middle of the park. that is why I am perplexed when people want him to play next to KDB in a disciplined passing role. at the moment he is not suited to that.

His will to win his drive his attitude is worth 40m

ok not questioning that. I am questioning his usefulness and effectiveness in our team. bellingham is good in playing the KDB role in a different pep kind of way, not by relying on magic passes but consistent one touch passing and movement near the opposition box. but he needs another disciplined and controlling number 8 next to him. bellingham hype reminds me of pogba. both incredible players who are good in a attacking sense but they do stupid things and lose effectiveness when played deeper near the midfield in a disciplined role.
