judy garland's ding dong the witch is dead, no 2 in charts

I find it strange that in general I get dogs abuse for being 'liberal' or a 'hippy' yet the moment I allow myself to find genuine warmth in the death of a demonic entity, I'm berated for not showing the things that I'm usually berated for. You can't have it both ways.

I don't care about Nelson Mandela and I find it odd that people are using the death of Thatcher to remind us all that Mandela isn't exactly Gandhi.

What happens when the next tory dies? Are we all going to be reminded that Malcolm X was a bit of a lad in his younger days as if that somehow changes everything?

Boris Johnson dies in a bizarre posh accident and the creeps come out to remind us that we can't laugh about it because Obama smoked a joint when he was 14 or something...<br /><br />-- Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:39 am --<br /><br />

It's number 1 on iTunes. Be interesting to see the average age of those who bought it.

Can't believe the hate on here for a song by Judy Garland. Come on guys, have a bit of respect. Whatever you thought of Judy while she was alive spare a thought for Liza Minnelli and the rest of her family who must still feel their loss.
I can't believe that in the 21st century Britain is a country where people can be judged on the basis of an i-tunes purchase, and there are calls for the BBC to censor their top 40.
This is the sort of behaviour you would expect in a 3rd world banana republic.

there's "being a bit of a lad" and killing innocent people at a train station.

i have never said anything to you about being a "hippy" or a "leftie" because that's perfectly fine by me.

but surely you must see the hypocrisy in your comments? the people celebrating and acting like twats make themselves look just as bad.

this is disgusting, celebrating someones death.

Its her funeral, with her children and grandchildren probably really upset and theres all this shit.

Its gone too far.

Just shows how divisive she was, and why she should just have a nornal funeral. Family only. Me, i`m so pleased that the witch is dead, if whelan gets his way for a minutes silence, then it will be the loudest silence ever. Bring it on.

Will the beeb play it on their chart show on Sunday?

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-04-11/should-radio-1-play-ding-dong-the-witch-is-dead-on-the-official-chart-show" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-04- ... chart-show</a>

Will be interesting to see how they go about this! I hope the beeb don't kop out otherwise they will show themselves to taking a pro Thatcher stance.

The presenter can easily just say "and the new number 1 for this week is the old time classic "Ding Dong the witch is dead woooooooo" and not make any reference the Thatcher.

The BBC have decided against banning the song in the interests of free speech but will play just a five second clip of it as a mark of respect.
