Jules Koundé

Loves sliding in, doesnt he? Hopefully he would do well in a team like ours that presses and plays extremely differently. I think finding a CB for our team is the most difficult job ever, we finished half of it with Laporte though.
Don't think he does, if you look at his high light videos, he 's one of the few centre back ones that isn't full of slide tackles.

Who do you suggest then?

This is what happens when you fail to identify and move on targets until the final weeks of the transfer window.

Although Sevilla were generally impressive and he was too,his game didn't scream 'buy me', but looking at City's squad it's obvious we need a player in this position. We are inevitably going to end up massively overpaying. In part goes with the territory but could we not have scouted for 18 months and come up with a young and upcoming player in the same way that Sevilla did 12 months ago?

You have no idea, your simply guessing that we've failed to identify....we like most clubs are constantly scouting, however there is always a very small pool of players who are good enough/getable , despiite the hilarious 'players who will improve us' thread, outside those playing for other top sides, there are probably only a handful across all positions.

He was not bad but Sevilla playing so much different game than us very hard to compare. Of course against Bayern they are even more defensive than usuall but their normal game is nothing like City's.

We only will see Kounde when he is put in a defence that spends 90% of game at halfway line, gets zero protection and opponent puts balls behind the defence and they need to hold perfect offside line and react within nanoseconds. And also any misplaced pass can end in a quick counter where Ederson rarely can make a save and its a goal like 90% of the time.

Same goes for Koulibaly too.

to me Diego looked the much more dominant, stronger CB there, Kounde needs to be controlled/directed imo, possibly Laporte will be able to do that. KK is different, he is ready made experienced CB, he would maybe even lead the backline instead of Laporte at times.
The way Kounde pressed from defence reminded me of VK, he has a great physicality and takes up good positions in the box. If he can play high up the pitch, happy days! Better again, he is only 21 years old.
