He’s good enough, NOWThe prominent word in this sentence is IS, we need now , This chap could be Moore , Maldini Puyul when he’s established ,but we need a centre back who is experienced, a leader now .
I read somewhere that he knew all the words to 'Ferry Across the Mersey' before his 1st birthday. Could beBS! ;)
Stones is still only 26, and he is certainly a good footballer, he isn't defensively weak, more mentally weak, if he can get his shit together, then he could still be a very good player, and has at least 8 years to be a very good player, it's up to him, whether Pep believes any more I've no idea, but I do think Pep did believe at some point. Not every young player is the same. Stones was widely criticised before he even joined City due to his defensive weaknesses. Stones, contrary to popular belief, never actually had the potential to be an elite CB.
That's all true but injuries have and probably will continue to get in the way of his path to becoming a 'very good player'.Stones is still only 26, and he is certainly a good footballer, he isn't defensively weak, more mentally weak, if he can get his shit together, then he could still be a very good player, and has at least 8 years to be a very good player, it's up to him, whether Pep believes any more I've no idea, but I do think Pep did believe at some point.
I take it you mean Stones ? I'm not sure his injuries are the real issue.hat's all true but injuries have and probably will continue to get in the way of his path to becoming a 'very good player'.
I disagree, I think injuries have constantly stopped him from gaining momentum and Pep has said the same in the past. Like you implied in your comment, he struggles with his mentality - he's basically the definition of a confidence player. He started both 17/18 and 18/19 strong but got injured and fell off in the second half of both seasons. Then last season he got injured right after the Norwich loss and was never able to string together a run of games without picking up another knock. Unless they were faking injuries to cover something up, which we've got no indication of, he was injured in August, most of September, pretty much all of December, and then had another injury for the first 3 or 4 games after the restart. It's a big problem for him imo.I take it you mean Stones ? I'm not sure his injuries are the real issue.
