Jules Koundé

He's like 6 foot and looks like he weighs 10 stone wet through. Hardly the big, dominating defender we have been missing since Vinny left. This just screams third choice signing since the other two are too expensive.

I don’t agree this lad is going to be a star, be a great signing. Think it could all be a smokescreen as expected we will get KK. But for the money and long term would be perfect.

Every time we’re linked with a new centre half, first things I check for are pace and height, and every time they turn out to be slow and short. Kounde isn’t particularly quick and is 5ft 11’. Thanks but no thanks. I hope to Christ we can pull the Koulibaly deal off!

He is good. Much better and Carlos and giminez. I hope they get him! But his release clause is £68.25m though..

He dealt with Traore miles better than the bloke next to him. And better than our defenders.

He is strong in air even though he is 5ft 11' .

Don't know how I feel about this personally.

He's shown he's got bags of talent, but he's still somewhat unproven and I think the whole idea around Koulibaly was to get a seasoned leader and help bring some experience to our backline.

If we are signing another 21 year old, I would be going for Upamecano simply down to the profile of player that he is - I think we are crying out for someone physically imposing, not another CB under 6ft.

Can’t help but feel this one might be a 2+2 deal. If we’ve been after a big dominating centre-back and a smaller one (Ake), surely Kounde falls into the latter category.
I sincerely hope it’s true but not entirely convinced until someone else says it close to City or someone in the Seville side, who are typically very reliable.

French, would be easy to pair with Laporte, is the only player who's played on the right side of defence from our alleged targets. He would be immense imo, not quite the experienced/leader we need to replace Kompany, but he will do for now (and future). Guess you can't get everything done as set out, window has been tough for a lot of clubs despite the money spent.

Just to give an idea of his profile tho, age excluded (found on Twitter):

That aerial duels stat is remarkable given he's only 5'11. Genuinely incredibly impressive.

I'm waiting for the inevitable second tweet that says there has been no contact and we're not in for him.

I really want us to sign a ready made, big, cb for this season, but from the p.o.v. of a signing for the club, this kid is the best prospect I've seen in recent times & may already be the defender we need, right now, anyhow.

No transfers are guaranteed, full stop.

This lad clearly has a defender's brain but also has plenty of ability on the ground & in the air, to go with it.

So imo would be a great signing for City. Whether he's an immediate answer for this season would have to be seen.

Rare to have that, it reminds me of Fernandinho in a way, not the tallest but an absolute freak when it comes to aerial duals, clearing up from corners or set pieces. If he's taller and already has signs of showing this level of quality, I can't imagine he will do worse under Guardiola. Would be happy with him if he's really a target.

This reads like its a brief from the club, specific figures and the Otamendi talk etc.

Could be a ploy to get Koulibaly moving but I never believe in that bollocks. Do we think ADL has just been scrolling through Twitter and seen this and then gone running to Txiki to do the KK deal? I doubt it.
