Like, it's easier to believe that Argentinian league defending is just jokers rather than him being that good.

I am most impressed with his positioning and movement which seems beyond his age. added to that he has the finishing of a accomplished striker.

The group stage of the Copa Libertadores (which is when RP starts playing) starts in April, not in a couple of weeks.
Even if he plays all of the things you described, it still won’t change that “he’s a guaranteed starter for River but not for us”. And all that experience will be nothing new for him; he’s already played it all a few times. I don’t see anything that justifies him joining later rather than now, or in January rather than in the summer

Obviously as a River Plate fan and not City I want to respect everybody on here.I have tried to be very respectful and give information that would help City fans know what is happening nothing more.This Brasilian person was uneducated but this post shows me that he is not in Brasil or at least knows nothing about South American football.Julian wants to move to a huge club in Europe but he also wants to play the Libertadores with River and the Mundial with Argentina.For him its a big advantage playing for Argentinas biggest club with lots of game time in 2022 while for River its great to have him and for City its great to ensure one of the greatest talents in the World today

If Argentinian defenders are jokers it wiil of put him in good stead to face "The Slab" in a derby

Something to consider that might put the whole "defending in Argentina" into perspective is that, in 2015, Tevez came back to the country to play for Boca, at age 31, fresh out of a CL final appearance with Juventus, and never had a season like Álvarez had on the last one. In fact, in 2015, Tevez did a lot worse numbers wise in the Argie league, than the previous one in Italy.

I'm not saying defending is better in Argentina than in Italy, but I think it goes to show you that it is not like any half decent forward can come and do as he pleases.

The Argie league can lack skill because all the young prospects are sold quickly, but it will never lack order, heart and, if needed, nastiness to defend.

dude forget about all the negative nancys here, they just want to have a contradictory view point just for the sake of it. for the rest of us here tell us more about the player we are getting. I am more interested in a couple of things how good is he on the touch line holding the width? if he plays as a right wing how does he do because there are signs one of sterling or jesus are going so that might be a chance for getting game time. also another question how fast is he at top speed compared to some player?

The lad is an interesting player.

I know it's YouTube, but a pattern never lies. He has a touch of the Tevez/ Jesus ball retention running style with a touch of the Aguero finishing.

A truly interesting hybrid of a player.

I'd like to see how he does with defenders that don't go to ground as much as South American defenders do.

I blame Guardiola for changing that style of football in England!
