Just a had a text, Scholes was ineligible to play

Doubt anything will happen but potentially they couldn't have registered him. As someone said, it took a while for Henry and he had to have been registered before I certain deadline to be eligible to play. If United had registered him last week, for example, I reckon it would have gotten out that he was coming back.

I reckon there'll probably be different rules on registering free agents as apposed to a player from a different league, with the later being more complicated and taking longer.

United played 6 more league games after the FA Cup final so it wouldn't have been that.

the agument is he retired after the wembley game so when did he serve his ban

depends when his registration was cancelled

if he was still registered as a United player until end of last season then ban already served

Reasons?????

Wasn't registered with the FA as a United player I would guess.

It seems unlikely that a manager of Ferguson's experience would allow an administrative error like this to happen though.

Agree, unfortunately can't see such a novice mistake by Sir Bacon or the administrators at the swamp.

This ^

But would be funny as fook if it were true and irrefutable evidence of senile dementure having set in ;)

I thought the FA powers that be didnt do business at weekends ie bans transfers etc.. so when excactly did they re register him as a full time player ??

yes I know its clutching at straws but what if.. I'd piss my pants in tescos..

And surely if they did register him during the week it would have gotten out into the press.

just found this

Scholes was dismissed for a studs-up challenge on Pablo Zabaleta during the second half of the derby with Manchester City at Wembley as his side lost 1-0.

If violent conduct is confirmed as the reason for his sending-off when the referee Mike Dean's report is received by the Football Association on Monday, it will condemn Scholes to a three-match suspension.

That would rule the 36-year-old out of Tuesday's trip to Newcastle United, the Easter Saturday encounter with Everton at Old Trafford and that key trip to the Emirates to face their closest title challengers.

There was a team in the Scottish Cup this season thrown out for fielding an illegible player.
If this is true about Scholes , City should be looking at the rule book on this one.
