Just been down to maine road for 1st time in 6 years

why the fuck have they named the roads sunshine road and barrowbliss avenue, etc...WTF is that about....Wheres our history gone, the souless twats are erasing it. I had to come away as it was hurting too much

the local community and schools were asked what should they name the roads around the ground

I think that they got some Moss Side school kids to come up with the names of the streets . . .

As you say its all gone, No monument to our history but we're about to make new history now so as much as im porud of our history here's to the future

Started a new shit job as a meter reader in March , had reads to do at 199 maine rd , which was the show house and a couple in barrowbliss rd about where the main entrance used to be. The roads should have been named after city connections

Can't bring myself to go down i remember when it was the first derby at eastlands sky did a interview with a old players from City and Utd and they showed amine road the pitch was overgrown all the seats had been ripped out and i looked like an empty shell i hated it.
I loved maine road i still remember walking / running up the stairs in the main stand to look out on to the pitch for the first time and i will never forget that.

If you take the fact that City played there out of it, you would realise what a dump it was compared to other grounds even then. No hot water in the north stand, two mismatches of stands (Kippax and Platt Lane), revoltingly filthy girders on the main stand which clearly gave the indicatin the club couldnt/wouldnt maintain it, and (admittedly as with COMS) stuck in a shit hole of an area.

I prefer where we are, I have been past Maine Road on many occasions since we left and as much as there are memories for us all it is gone and we have moved on to better facilities-after all would England have played at Maine Road? No, but they did at COMS within one year of us moving there, an example of what can happen when moving forwards with facilities rather than be stuck in the dark ages can do in terms of raising profile etc.

Incidentally, I was reading an article last week and when the pitch was dug up after City moved out, it was relaid at Ducie High School (now Manchester Academy) as hardly anyone bought any of it when it was auctioned off with everything else.
