Just got back from Fulham

Fulham's a great day out - were the fans segregated today or where they just sat side by side? That's what it was like last time I went - it must be one of the friendliest grounds in the country.

The areas nice as well - pubs with no bouncers on the doors - like going back in time.

I thought the singing today was the best for quite a while. I was right down at the front (row B) and we stood for most of the match, we sang and there was a great atmosphere. I particularly liked when someone started the "scarf" song for the two miserable so and sos to the side of us in the Fulham stand who were wearing red and white scarves and looked totally out of place. The Fulham lad who then waved his black and white scarf made us all laugh. The banter was good, the stewards were friendly and all in all I felt it was a good day.

haha was in row G , the scarf incident was hilarious :D Great day

fair enough. sure we've taken 3 blocks before though, guess the hefty price caused people to stay away.

as i said great banter, beautiful weather and friendly policing, stewading for once. good to go to a football ground/city and not be treated like a leppar by away fans and a terrorist by security.

The end block was tiny in front of the cabins, the main block was about seats 123 to 145 and maybe 40 seats back. The smaller block maybe a third of this size, so I make it 500 short?

In regards to that stuff about being a fan in London supporting city... Take it with a pinch of salt. All clubs have fans like this and it's generally a small part of the over whelming support core. It's just that its easier to see the bad, as the good don't comment and just support there team.

At the end of the day who gives a fuck. Support city and ignore them. I'm an Australian fan that is living in London that supports us because we have some of the greatest fans and we used to have a few aussies running around. I even got my camera out to take photos of some of the action there? I do feel abit uneasy about it but when everyone gets to watch the next 5 season in person, then i'm back millions of miles away back in sydney with a couple of photos to remember it by. Who cares? at the end of the day we all support city and there will always be elisitm in supporting groups (mine is bigger then yours ha)

Was a great day out, dont let them spoil it for you.

Agreed, it was a nice change!

can someone explain to me why there seems to be a hate by some city fans against london fans who support city. I have supported city for 40 yrs and have met and travelled all over to see city who i love but now i am realy considering not to bother going to the games sorry but is this what city fans see a club that only can be suported by people in manchester. Sorry for the rant apart for some arse holes great day out CITD.

If only we lived in a perfect world.

Going for 40 years, and you feel that you need to post about the odd few prob well pissed up fans out of thousands that give a bit of stick?

Come on you know the score, 99.9% of our fans are fine.

Thought our atmosphere was great today prob as I was close to the back.

Thought Garrido was going to get run all over after his 1st 20 mins- but he managed to pull himself together.

Thought Johnson played well despite not being on the left , a couple of cuts inside onto his left were only inches wide or he would of had 2 today.

Had to laugh at that yank in the neutral end that thought it was a great idea to wear his liverpool jacket to the game today, right next to our section.

Prob a few missed this queuing to get out, but what was that all about over Tevez's thrown shirt into the crowd at the front. Looked like it was going to go off at one point over who had it.

i've found Fulham as one of the most if not the most 'welcoming' club for away fans.

Good to hear you had a good time lad.

I've developed a soft spot for Fulham since Roy Hodgson went there, he's a top bloke doing a world-class job, there a very freindly club who play good stuff and look after there fans. Would love to see them do even better in the Europa League and go and win it.

Wouldn't mind Hodgson as a future England manager either!.

good shout, although the powers that be would probably never get an english manager for the top job again. not after shteve maclaren.

went a couple of years ago when i think we won 3-1 and like many have said on here it's a great away day, good old fashioned ground, the fulham fans are great, never any hassle, they're a good club, welcoming and the 3 points always makes the day better!

Well I'm from Sydney so my ties with Manchester arent too strong. I started following the Blues about 7 or 8 years ago mainly because everyone else goes for the rags and I hated them. Seemed a natural progression really...... plus the team I follow in Rugby League over here hasnt won anything since the 70s so it feels about right.

I think support for a team just builds up, you don't need to be from there to feel it.

Great win though, shame it's on a 2 am over here....

I have just arrived home as well. And the 7.15 train from Euston to Piccadilly was invaded by THE TEAM!! (just kidding about the invaded bit but they were in the first two First Class carriages.)

But Carlos Tevez wasn't, he was with, what I assume was his family and they sat across the aisle from me in First Class! Carlos came down to talk to them and smiled at me and carried on talking to his family until someone came to take him for his meal. I fell asleep and woke up to find he was sitting right across from me!!!!! I thought I was dreaming but there he was sitting at the table with me! After a moment or two I plucked up courage and asked him if he would mind me taking a photograph and he said that was fine. After I told him how I had enjoyed the match and a couple of other things he swapped places with one of his family and chatted to them the rest of the way home. I was trying to talk to the lad he had swapped places with and Carlos just leaned over and said he didn't speak English. I know that this sounds a bit girly (but remember I am female) but he has a beautiful smile that really lights up his eyes. (*dons the body armour for the stick I will get for that one*!)

How glad are we that Fergie did NOT sign him up?

Thanks Carlos, a true gent.

p.s. by the way before anyone says why did I go first class, I decided to treat myself ok? Just now and again I am allowed to do that. :-) the weather was glorious as well, practically sunbathing weather!!
First class? Bloody pensioners!!! your subs are going up!! Nice photo

I was really impressed with the effects of Fulham's non segregation policy. Seemed to bring out the best in everyone. Might not work for a derby but perhaps someting that could be tried more often.

I'm also a rugby league fan and I've believed for some time that these days the average soccer fan is no worse than a typical RL fan, but RL fans generally behave better because they are treated better.

Aye, it's a top little ground. Did everyone else get their free Muller Rice on the way in?!

With regards the London Blues thing, I was with a few of them yesterday. They've been going years and years, China, Thailand, Abu Dhabi you name it. But some of them were getting a bit of stick from some City fans yesterday. Unfortunately people just can't accept that we will, and do have fans from all over the country who have supported City for decades.

to me it depends on why someone supports a club, if they dont have any ties to manchester then i dont get it

Well maybe that's coz you're deficient in the imagination stakes.

I was six years old when I started supporting city. My parents who lived on the outskirts of London, weren't interested in soccer. I loved the game. Didn't have a team to support. It was 1970, there was an Esso promotion because of the World Cup. It was little football coins. I decided - aged six - that I would support the team of the player I first got when my dad went to get petrol.

It was Francis Lee. So aged six I started supporting City. How was I supposed to know then that some loons wouldn't like it if non-Mancunians supported the club?

And, as I'm sure you all know, you can't stop supporting a club once you've started. It doesn't work that way.
did you ever get martin peters? spent ages trying to get that one

I've got absolutely nothing against Southern blues, the more the merrier but I'm always abit taken aback when a hear a Southern accent cheering on City. It just sounds unusual. That said a Scottish lad comes with me occassionally and that sounds even weirder.
