Ok, im going to go against the grain, stick my neck out and say only the winners of the Champions League compete in it
 
Chelsea will also get to play Atletico Madrid (Torres' old team) in the UEFA Super Cup. Winning the CL gives you two easy chances of silverware, the Super Cup and Club World Cup (usually against an easy to beat team). Good way to boost our trophy cabinet if we ever win CL.
