Just heard a Dembele rumour

Judging by this comment, it looks like we won`t sign a DM, but says nothing about other positions. Didn`t see the interview on sky, so might be wrong though

I think Stones can be a possible option as DM cover for Dhino. Confident bringing the ball out, good passer and can tackle.

Always a bit sceptical about this as a concept.
Pep often moves people around and doesn't have fixed positions.
I know what you mean. But I was suggesting more in relation to depth in the squad. Its clear you may not get like for like exactly if someone comes in due to injury or suspensions. But I gather that when someone is called on to step up City don't want to much of a drop off in terms of ability.

Just heard that the player we are actually going for is not a DM at all but is in fact Ousemane Dembele of Barcelona. Same person that told me several years ago about Adebayor going to Real Madrid which was proven correct.
Absolute bollocks. I remember a number of these from you down the years. Robinho to Valencia was one. Van Wolfswinkel another, just give up it’s weird.

So Barcelona paid £135m. Cheers for info.

Wonder how much City would be prepared to go to & what Barcelona are looking for.

I get your point but it's not always entirely realistic.
Losing DeBruyne or similar to injury and you're almost certainly going to get a drop in quality, we'll never have more than 11 players at that level. Realistically we will hopefully have around 18 players who will be pretty regular first teamers and use them most of the time.

To be honest I'm actually ambivalent about whether there is that much of a drop off when certain players aren't playing. It depends very much on who we may be playing. I recall fern being out against arsenal away gundogan cane in and you wouldn't have noticed what the worry was all about. But I do agree that there may be times when there may be a drop in quality. But for me this is dependent on who we sign in relation to depth. City start signing someone like Grealish as a number 8 and it's then I think in relation to quality and depth the cracks begin to show. The only thing I disagree with is that I do think we have more than 11 players who on any given day have every right to be in that starting 11. In fact I would go as far to say that it was one of the contributory factors why we dominated the league last season. The competition was fierce.

I'd imagine Barca would want to recoup their outlay, with City not willing to pay more than £100m following the injury?
