....did you manage to have a discussion regarding his human rights record - or were you thankfully in the correct demographic at the correct moment here?

Yeah its all Wacky Tacky's fault. I shouldnt go there but can you please "educate" me about the fun and games that went on in Bangkok this past April?? I am certain that was Thaksin's fault as well??

am I the only one who thinks the OP is bullshitting ?

why no photos ?
Not everyone feels the need to stick a camera in the face of every famous person they happen to meet in a shopping centre.

The Shinawatras live here so it's hardly the most outlandish claim ever made on this website.

I lived in London for three years but I never met the Queen !

There are 8 million people in London and the Queen doesn't tend to just walk around shopping centres, so I'm not surprised.

So he couldn't put any money into the club but can afford a shopping spree?

The outstanding 10% of the clubs shares were recently sold to ADUG.
My original remark was tongue-in-cheek but I suspect that the shares were actually sold as part of the original deal but he was allowed to hold onto them for 12 months.

Oddly enough, I bumped into her coming out of a theatre one night. Well not literally.

He took us over, invested money by paying on the never-never, and left us a few weeks from bankruptcy before selling to our new owners for more than what he paid.

He was a twat and we are glad to be rid of him. Check out the first part of the three part article in the Guardian to see how good our club was run under him.

He didn't go around scouting for the richest investors for the sake of the club, he did so to sell once he realised that running a Prem club costs money, and he didn't have any.

The new owners would have bought the club from Swales if needed, as they were on the lookout at the exact same time Thaskin wanted to sell. The stars aligned just right for us to recieve the gift of our fabulous owner and Chairman, it was nothing to do with the Thai Al-Fahim.

I think if he Toxin had got his way and sold Stephen Ireland and Nedum onouah to Sunderland and Villa people on here would have been happy to string him up.

Why are you 'thanking' this bellend?

No previous owner of the club has ever had less regard for the club, the fans and what it means to people.

No previous owner has ever driven the club as close to the edge of complete ruin.

No previous owner has ever been so self interested and had no regard whatsoever for the good of the club, compared to his own personal aims.

No-one previously associated with the club has ever put political aims first second and third in every decision he made at the club and used the club as nothing more than a political tool, let alone a political tool for an audience on the other side of the world.

The man was a leech. He fucked the club and is one of the luckiest people around that decent and honourable people happened to offering a way out at the time he had totally fucked us up.

Not to mention the ridiculous human rights and corruption issues that he brought to this club which have no place at any self respecting football club.

He got lucky with the sale, through no fault of his own - if anyone thinks that the current owners are so incompetent that they would only purchase the club from some dodgy twat who had 'a name that was known' and would have not bought from anyone else selling a fine club stuffed with potential but on the brink of ruin, they are doing the current owners a massive diservice and painting them as amateurs who only buy from snivelling toads thet have some association with, rather than the seriousbusinessmen that they are.

He was and is a twat, with no respect whatsoever for this club.

He would have seen this club go to the wall and not blinked once, apart from worrying that he might look a bit silly in front of his supporters in Thailand.

Thanking him for being in the right place at the right time is like thanking Shipman for having some cough medicine in his bag that fixed your sore throat whilst he was doing his rounds and trying to 'treat' your grandma.

And that distinguishes him from Sheikh Mansour how exactly?

Or the Glazers? Or Abramovich? Or Mittal or whover?

None of them have any particular loyalty to their clubs. It's either a purely financial thing, or a marketing thing or a bit of a game for them. None of these guys invested in their clubs because of any actual interest in the club!

But they do bring much wealth into the PL so we tolerate it. But we should not expect them to be all gooey eyed about City. It's pretty ridiculous to think that anyone would be, isn't it.

I don't think you've quite got the point of what JMA is saying. Unlike the others Thaksin used this club purely for his own ends and, if it would have suited him, would have happily let us go to the wall.

I'm sure Abramovich does have some emotional attachment to Chelsea and the Glazers try to run United as a business (although from what I've read about the Glazers, them and United deserve each other).
