It is forbiden in Islam 2 drink, sell, buy or work at a place that has somthing 2 do with alcohol.......Mr.Khaldoon and Sheikh Mansour(as being muslims) have to reconsider the sponsorship agreement with singha and 2 STOP selling alcohol in the stadium....

Well if we ever move to Abu Dhabi to play our home games I'm sure they will, but as we are an English club it has nothing to do with Islam.

Just be careful when talking about alcohol. The Holy Koran has some stiff things to say about it.

PMSL

If that ever happened we'd lose more than half of our seasoncard holders, and the rest would drown in a sea of tears.

For what it's worth, I think the people actually attending the games should be able to decide whether or not they drink alcohol - it's called freedom of choice.

In fairness, Emarati makes a good point. There are significant cultural differences at play here. We do not know the owners standpoint on the issues of alcohol. I think the key here is tolerance and understanding of cultural differences (from BOTH sides), and Khaldoon al Mubarak who has had in part a western eduction may have a different viewpoint for example to someone who has been brought up exclusively in the Middle East. Having a pre-match Beer is a national footballing ritual, and with the increase in corporate hospitality I don't think this will change at COMS, certainly not where revenue is concerned.

To some extent the issue of gambling may also have relevance not necessarily to the club but to the area surrounding Eastlands and any potential redevelopment around the ground, but that is a discussion for another thread. It would also be fair to say the Singha deal (brokered by Thaksin remember - Thai beer!) would probably not be renewed, certainly not at the current financial rate as our profile has changed somewhat over the past 18 months!

Going back to the original point - i.e. getting a pie/pint at the ground: I agree that the prices are high but that is the nature of buying at the ground, exclusive market ect (athought the £4 burgers outside the ground ARE a joke). Having had some experience in the service industry during my student days I do have an appreciation for what is involved. No doubt the staff have been given feedback regarding good service with a smile ect, which in fairness they appeared to do quite well on Saturday and that is perfectly ok if you are talking serving in the corporate hospitality sections, but that is no good at the main stalls if that service is painfully slow. It affects financial income but also customer satisfation and puts people off the whole experience.

The stall I was at in the third tier of the main stand only had 3 staff on pre-game and it took 25mins to get served a beer, even though people were queueing rather than scrumming at the bar. As for a half time pie I looked at the queue and decided it wasn't worth the hassle! More staff is the key, and staff working in pairs where one pours multiple pints in preparation and the other serves and deals with cash would speed things up considerably whilst maintaining a reasonable quality of pint.

nobody think to rip the 'love' off and put it above glazer, so it read united love glazer?

got me thinking this talk of beer.

Has anyone ever watched City sober?

If they have, can you tell us if City are any good??

jokin apart - the beer is very expensive, the service is v slow, and on sat before the game they were out of both singha and cider.
I generally never get in the ground early to have a beer as its always been over priced but as all the pubs were so rammed on sat I thought Id give it a go - but £3.70 is beyond what I will pay for a pint so I will go back to drinking elsewhere.

Likewise £2.20 for a coke for my lad is just no realsitic when I can get same from a shop for £0.90.

The staff have been a standing joke for years - they are basically incompetant. We waited 15 minutes to get served on Saturday as one very slow lad with a very basic grasp of English was serving. I didnt buy/see a pie but seems theyve gone downhill too.

As I said at the start - I really dont want to sound churlish - but it is a big part of the day and its poor.
They got ya at half time but before and after - not a chance.

Relax man,It is cultural differences.Man city fans have nothing to do with the Quran except for the few muslims among them & even those are free either to drink or not.You can't make decisions on behalf of people.I cant see your argument when hotels in Muslim countries like my own Egypt & yours ( Dubai) are offering alcoholics .I'm a Muslim by the way.Happy Ramadan:)
