But on a worldwide scale that's a good point mate, whether we like it or not they are going to be the final nail in the coffin and there is nothing short of war that's going to stop them.

I‘m definitely in the self-interested arseholes club and indeed, by your criteria, the **** club.

Difference is, I‘m ok admitting it whereas a lot of people pretend to care about shit that they either can’t influence or doesn't really affect them.

To answer your question, they’re not arsed are they. But as a self-interested **** I’m not going to wait patiently while some prick sits glued to the road or throws paint at me.

I do actually care about climate change though, because I like wildlife. I’ve even volunteered for local conservation groups and am an RSPB member. But I don’t think these protesters are going about things in a way that will change anything.

It’s a straw man put up by people who want to shrug off the idea that anything can be done.

China is a massive polluter - 25% of all carbon emissions vs 18% of the worlds population, but they have launched a lot of big policy reforms because they know their future depends on it. They are going through extreme weather events more than most. Tens of Millions of Chinese people will die if they don’t turn things around.

But apply the “he’s not doing it so I’m not going to” logic to anything and it’s immediately obvious how stupid it is. Your neighbour doesn’t put their bins out so you’re not going to, how does that work out for you? Your friend doesn’t care about health or fitness so you decide not to do anything about yours - sensible?

The other thing to remember is that China will move incredibly fast when they find their solution. If they decide it’s nuclear power, they will build more power plants in a year than the rest of the world has in a decade. If it’s wind or solar, they will carpet the country with them.

So if we do nothing now because China is lagging behind, it’s very likely in 20 years time China will be way ahead of us and putting uncomfortable political and economic pressure on us to catch up.

Nobody I know is against doing things to help the environment, it's the big business doing the polluting. These protestors are actually pointing at the wrong people, they should be pointing at big business.

Most people believe in helping the environment, some preachy **** with orange powder isn't going to make them think harder and try to do something not in their power to do, again these are just after their 15 minutes of fame.

Get after the big business and leave the common Joe alone.

You sound like we are doing nothing, that's a ridiculous statement isn't it?

Big business is controlled by government.

Government is controlled by electors.

Just Stop Oil have one simply stated aim - which is to get the government to stop the granting of new fossil fuel licenses.

They’re not pointing the finger at you or anyone else - unless you’re giving the government a free pass to ignore the environment.

When have they ever pointed the finger at normal people? They simply haven’t.
