Just Stop Oil protests

Right but if we can limit it to 1.5 or even 2 degrees compared to 3 or 4 then the difference is huge.

You do it by investing more in renewable energy and research into replacements knowing that it isn’t going to be a cut over but the longer we delay that investment or research then the problem only grows. Just look what they’re doing in China now.
I just don’t see how it’s possible to go from fossil fuels to renewable energy in such a short period. Climate change has supposedly already started, glaciers have been melting away for years. We should have stopped using fossil fuels decades ago. The reason why we haven’t is because it’s a mammoth task.

I think the total amount of turbines required to power up UK homes is something around 7000. Hornsea 2, the worlds largest wind farm has 165 turbines. That just shows you the scale of the job. That’s just homes were powering up to. Then you’ve got to factor going from petrol/diesel cars to electric cars, another head scratcher of a topic. If climate change is to believed (I’m not saying it isn’t), we’re fucked. Well maybe not us, but in a century people will be fucked.

I've just been on a fossil-fuel powered trip to the Hubbard glacier, which is actually getting bigger... go figure, as the septics say. Nature will do what nature does, despite any King Cnut stance we may pose.

So, a week-and-a-half extra then - based on current guesstimates. Thanks.
Yes I'm aware it was kind of the point. The other point is things get done quicker when the will is there. Hence the comparison to the vaccine. I'm not saying the vaccine and the environment have the same time frame or solutions. Its seems one does need to state the obvious.

This is why it's a pointless argument people will not comprehend simple posts and its because they choose not to.

Anyhow I'm bored with posters who seem to belittle people who still care enough to at least try and make the planet better. Sneer and moan as much you like.

no need to respond.

Theres plenty of other options than just wind though and it’s not just about energy production, it’s about reduction of usage too. There’s a shedload of housing estates gone up near me and it amazes me what we allow people to build still.

Like I said, it’s about limiting how fucked we are. Even if the government stopped subsidising companies for the exploration of new fossil fuels, given the obscene profits that are made from it, and used that to reinvest in insulation or further research into renewables would be a start. When it comes to transport, it’s not just about the switch in cars either, it’s overhauling public transport too.

I’d rather they set a crazy target and tried to hit it and fail than continue to tread water though.
